Both oils are suitable for soaking nappies, bibs etc and no more than 5 drops in a bucket of water are needed. You can put a few drops on a wet muslin (or bucket lid) to cover a dry pail set of nappies. If dry pailing mix a couple of drops with water to swill and freshen your bucket.
You can find various wipes recipes involving these oils at the bottom of this section.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree oil is also ideal for cleansing cuts and grazes, treating vaginal thrush, soreness after childbirth and promoting healing in general.
Please note, however, that tea tree oil is a very strong essential oil, and in very rare cases a child can become sensitised to it. Therefore, please use it with caution initially or use the more gentle Lavender oil below.
No more than 5 drops in a bucket of water are needed.
Lavender
This is a good quality essential oil (pharmaceutical grade). A few drops in the bath are wonderful to soothe Mum.
Bear in mind that lavender oil is a strong relaxant and SHOULD NOT be used on Mum during pregnancy.
