Little Lamb Breast Pad Overview

Little Lamb washable breast pads are fabulous and one of the very best washable breast pads I’ve ever used and I’ve tried many brands over the years of breastfeeding my three children.

So why are Little Lamb Breast Pads so good.....?

  • They are extremely slim making them discrete in your bra and under clothing. You’ll have no more telltale round outlines under clothes even with fitted tops.
  • They are lined with PUL a breathable waterproof coating to ensure you don’t get any leaks. Many of the washable breast pads I tried didn’t have a waterproof layer at all. Once these other pads were saturated the milk would begin to seep through to your bra and clothes.
  • They are made of incredibly soft and super absorbent bamboo which holds more liquid than traditional cotton pads.

How do I use them?

Wash and rinse before using for the first time to remove all loose fibres and wipe your nipple before feeding baby just in case there is any stray lint.

The pads will reach maximum absorption after a dozen washes.

Simply pop these into your bra and position centrally over your nipple. They are highly absorbent and even with my strong milk let down I never needed to change them due to them being saturated.

In the first few months of breastfeeding I did change them during the day purely for hygiene but over time as my milk flow began to settle down they were perfect for all day use. I also used these for managing night time leaking too.

I wash them with my normal household washing at either 30 or 40deg and dry them on an airer over night.

The Little Lamb breast pads come with a drawstring mesh wash bag included in the price. Pop the pads into the mesh bag and this will keep them contained during the wash cycle to avoid them making their way into the filter. Place all used pads in the laundry bag and place in the washer with your normal clothing.

Do not wash with dirty nappies.

Sizing

Available in two sizes:

  • 11cm for A to C cups
  • 13cm for D cups and beyond.

The diameter of the pads is 11cm or 13cm so they will not slip about or peek out of your top. The 13cm are slightly more absorbent due to their larger size..

How many do I need?

The bamboo breast pads come in packs of 5 pairs.  Each pack of bamboo nursing pads comes with a small drawstring mesh wash bag.

You will need between 5-10 pairs depending on your milk let down and your washing frequency.

Breast Pad Fabric

Luxuriously soft woven super absorbent bamboo

Washing instructions:

  • Wash the pads at 40 degrees.
  • Wash 3-4 times before use to remove all loose fibres
  • Avoid fabric conditioner

Little Lamb Care Guide

Store dirty nappies in the nappy pail, separating any washable boosters, inserts or liners and closing the Velcro tabs over on themselves.  When you have a load ready, put them in the washer on a 30˚ wash with half the recommended dose of detergent, give them an extra rinse and air dry. That's all there is to it.

Here are a few tips:

- Dry pail the nappies.
- Soiled nappies should be washed regularly. Do not leave soiled nappies for longer than three days.
- Check the Velcro tabs are closed tightly on the nappies. Wash the wraps with the velcro closed but inside out. Boosters and inserts are best removed from pocket nappies prior to washing.
- We advise washing at 30˚.

The above is all most parents need to know but for the few parents who need it we've included the sum of our knowledge below:

Detergent: In our opinion powder detergents dissolve quicker and rinse better leading to cleaner laundry.

Dosage: We advise starting with half the recommended dose of detergent for the load size and water hardness and working up from there. The amount of detergent needed is dependent on load size, machine type and water hardness. Soft water needs less detergent to be effective and hard water needs more - possibly up to a full recommended dose.

Fabric softener: Do not use fabric softener in your nappy wash - it will coat the fibres and inhibit absorption.

Sanitisers: We do not recommend using sanitisers with your nappy wash. Sanitisers will affect the elastic and Velcro components and shorten the life of your nappies.

Drying: Drying nappies in direct sunshine is best. Placing them by, but not touching, a heat source is effective but do not place them directly on radiators as they may scorch. Avoid using a tumble drier where possible; if you do use a tumble dryer make sure it's on the low heat setting. Do not tumble dry wraps or pocket nappies.

Little Lamb Warranty

All Little Lamb products are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for 6 months from purchase, as long as care guidelines have been followed.

Use of the following will void warranty:

  • Nappy sanitisers (Napisan etc.)
  • Bleach, bleaching products (Oxy 10, vanish etc.)
  • Vinegar.
  • Washing soda, borax or bicarbonate of Soda.
  • Fabric softener.
  • Limescale removing  products (Calgon etc)
  • Dishwasher tablets.
  • Ecover, feedback of poor results, difficult to rinse thoroughly leaving residue and causing issues.

Little Lamb's decision on any warranty claim is final.

3 years tandem feeding never leaked
Rating:
01 July 2022  |

Little lambs are the best imo. 3 years none stop use. Tandem feeding. Powerful let down. You can’t see them. They come in two sizes which is great for those of us with big boobs. They have literally not leaked once.

Soft but fluff
Rating:
19 June 2022  |

They are lovely and soft, I'm due in 4 weeks, so can't attest yet how good they'll be for leaking. But seeing how they're already fluffing after one wash, I don't think I'll be using them. I'd be too worried the fluff will get on my nipples and then into baby's mouth.

So comfortable and easy to use. They’re so soft and I’ve not had a single problem with leakages. So much easier and nicer than the disposable type!

Got these as they were rated very highly by TNL. They are very absorbent and stay in place, they just haven’t washed as well as other brands (gone slightly bobbly). Would still recommend though as they work fine even with bobbles, bug might be harder to sell on after

Since using these I haven’t had any leakage, they seem to contain well. I would say the outline is visible when wearing a fitted shirt though. But overall I’m happy!

These are good pads, comfortable and generally pretty discreet under clothes. They’ve gone a bit bobbly after a few cycles of washing/tumble drying but this hasn’t affected comfort.

Husband bought these for me. They are great. Very soft, you would hardly notice they are there. Better than disposables with the sticky tabs as you can easily move them around in your bra depending on your position. Wash in normal wash and dry as your other clothes. Easy.

They are a lovely quality material and even though I have not given birth yet, i can tell they will be very absorbant and comfortable when the time comes. I do wish id gone with the lower size - the upper size is quite large, but i didn't measure anything in advance to see how it may fit me.

Amazing breast pads
Rating:
16 May 2021  |

These are the best breast pads I have used. Before this I had some boots reusable pads and some handmade WAHM pads. The problem I had with both is that the multiple layers of fabric weren’t letting the water rinse through properly in the wash, so milk deposits (and likely bacteria) were building up over time. These bamboo ones are only one layer and super-soft. They wash thoroughly and come out like new each time. Highly recommended.

It is easy to wear these and not realise that you're leaking... until your nipple itches because it is saturated. Really soft and am glad to have gotten this to save the environment from more waste!

Great alternative to disposables
Rating:
24 January 2021  |

These are slim, comfortable and absorbent, and dry fast. I did find they went quite bobbly after only a couple of washes, but that could have been our hard water, and it hasn’t really made a difference. They’re much kinder on the nipple than a disposable I think!

Not only did these arrive with the Nappy Lady's usual speedy delivery, but they are amazing to boot! They're so soft and comfortable next to my skin, wash without issues and they don't have a back, so there's less fussing when repositioning after a feed or a pump. Excellent product.

I like these breast pads a lot. They are relatively thin, very soft. I like that it’s easy to figure out which side is which at night in the dark as label is easy to feel with your fingers.

Love these breast pads, really absorbent and saving from landfill. They are a bit fluffy the first couple of times but after washing 3 or 4 times (a couple of pre washes recommended anyway) this has gone. I got both sizes and the smaller one is fine for me, and fits better in bras.

Disappointed in these. They do the job but you can see them through clothing. 2 great big rings like I've put a coaster in my bra. Can't wear them outside the house unless I've got a cardigan on.

I really wanted to like these but I’ve had a bit of trouble. I’ve had mastitis and the fluff on the pads has stuck to me, so taking them off has been painful. I’ve had to revert to disposables whilst I heal up.

Go bigger!
Rating:
04 September 2019  |

These are good, they wash well and dry quickly for bamboo. You need two packs though and get the 13cm unless you have really tiny boobs...I’m a 32C, obviously a bit bigger now but my boobs leak so much the smaller ones just don’t last. They’re also pretty uncomfortable when wet so you need to change them regularly. I’d recommend them though taking the above into account!

Little lamb breast pads
Rating:
09 August 2019  |

These reusable breast pads are extremely soft and wash really well. I've even tried them in the tumble dryer which was fine; they're bamboo so they do take quite a while to dry.

I went for the larger size; I sometimes find they don't stay flat and have a crease, but I don't know if that's due to the size or not.

Can't comment on absorbency as I'm only using them for pre-baby leakage at the moment.

Ok
Rating:
08 August 2019  |

Wasn’t too impressed with these. Points for being reusable and eco friendly, and it comes with a handy bag to wash them in which is decent quality. I found the pads needed frequent changing throughout the day. They were also difficult to get flat meaning that when I was done feeding and tried to get boob back in bra with one hand, the pad had a tendency to roll up/fold over making it really difficult to get sorted out. They also left fluff on my nipples. I bought these as I already had three sets of reusables from a supermarket and wanted to expand the collection to reduce washes, but have found myself sticking with the same three pairs from the supermarket.

No good to me
Rating:
14 July 2019  |

So disappointed, these were great when I was pregnant and leaking tiny (and I mean teeny tiny) amounts. I prewashed them so many times as they’re bamboo. I have been known to leak quite a large amount with my previous baby so I expected to be the same this time, and for that reason I reached for disposables until my supply was established. I barely leak during the day or night, unless baby does long stretches. These do not hold anything. The second they’re wet I leak. I don’t have an oversupply this time or a strong let down but these just do not work for me. I can wake up soaked before I’m even engorged. I think these will serve their purpose when im feeding less and needing breastpads ‘just in case’ but I do reach for disposables still at 3 month postpartum. Currently I use them as a replacement for cotton rounds and use with Micellar water. Funnily enough I actually need less micellar water on these than cotton rounds..

These are very comfortable. I went for the bigger size mainly through choice as opposed to a requirement. I found them to be comfortable to wear. I can wear these all day with out any leaking. These are my favourite ones out of the reusable breast pads I have tried.

I love these - very absorbent and fairly discreet, though you do have to rearrange them a bit after a feed. Only minor downside is that since they are bamboo, they’re not the quickest to dry but the pay off is the absorption. I got two packs (so 10 pairs) and it works well for a weekly wash alongside the baby clothes.

Fluffy breast pads
Rating:
12 March 2019  |

I didn't expect these pads to be as fluffy as thry were. Fibres come off onto me while wearing and are then transfered to baby. So have to watch this. However thry are very thin and discrete. Do take longer to dry than my otherd but thsts the more absorbent fabric.

I ordered the bigger size to allow for movement rather than a bigger bust and I am so much more confident with these that they won't leak. They are very soft, although curl a lot, especially straight after a wash and take a wear to flatten out again.

These breast pads are so comfortable, even when things get quite sore and are really good at their job. I have had one or two leaks overnight, when they've just been overwhelmed, but that was my fault for not changing them out! So much nicer than the plastic disposable ones particularly when trying to rearrange after a feed.

Very soft & comfortable. Can wrinkle after feeding, but fine if you just take them out & put then again flat. I have the smaller size , now my flow has calmed down they are fine but couldn’t wear them in the first couple of months due to leaking. Now they are my favourites due to softness.

These are so soft and much better for your nipples as they can breath easier unlike with disposables which can be sweaty. They do shrink a wee bit in the wash and leave a little bit of fluff on ur nipples but apart from that are great.

Absorbent, comfortable and I love not having to use disposables. A well-fitting bra is needed otherwise they do wriggle around, also when breastfeeding they need to be moved aside (whereas disposables stay stuck to the bra). Worth a few seconds of extra hassle in my opinion.
