Bumgenius Freetime is a onesize, all in one cloth nappy, so no more stuffing, loosing parts in the wash. Bumgenius Freetime gives YOU more FREETIME less chores. Multiple layers of stay dry lined microfibre make this an incredibly quick drying nappy, it's perfect if you have limited drying facilities as it stays soft even in hard water areas and dries on an airer within hours.

The Freetime is so simple and very close to the way a disposable nappy works (except you don't throw it away!)  Making the Freetime suitable for any type of childcare.

The microfibre pads inside the nappy have 2 folding lines on each pad. You can ignore these and just lay the inserts flat or you can fold along these lines to move the absorbency to where your baby needs it most. This tends to be folded towards the front for boys and the back for girls. See this in action in our demo video.

A really simple, easy to use all in one. Once again, Bumgenius have proved themselves to be GENIUS when it comes to cloth nappies!

  • One step cloth nappy - no stuffing!
  • Semi-attached inserts dry faster
  • 3 x 3 snap down design adjusts the sizing to fit small, medium, and large sizes (approximately 8-35+ pounds)
  • Trim, snug and comfortable stretchy tabs provide a custom fit
  • Available in both snap & hook and loop closure
  • Gentle leg elastic contains the mess!

We find the Bumgenius Freetime comes up a little shorter than the other nappies in the Bumgenius range so it's a better choice for short to average height/length babies.  If you are a tall family or baby seems to be taller than average choose the Bumgenius V5 pocket nappy or Bumgenius elemental instead.

Wash dark colours separately for at least 2 washes until you are sure no colour is coming out of them.

This nappy is only for daytime use. For night time you can try the Bumgenius Elemental with additional little weed hemp boosters, or our preference is for a two part nappy such as a Bamboozle Stretchy  additional booster, and Motherease wrap.

Very easy to use
Saturday, 27 May 2017  |

This nappy is very easy to use and very quick to dry. It fits well on our chubby baby. I wanted a nappy which was as easy as possible to use, to avoid objections from my partner, and this fits the bill. We have the popper version so the used nappy can go straight in the bucket (even leaving the liner in if it's only wet). It only takes a moment to hang them up to dry after washing as they are one piece which simply unfolds. And refolding the clean, dry nappy for reuse also only takes a second.
The absorbency is good and the nappy lasts at least 4 hours in the day which is the maximum we go between feeds. At night it has lasted much longer. We have also been having far fewer leaks than with disposables. Even if there is a leak, it's easier to deal with as the dirty clothes can go into the bucket and create no extra work. We have a 2-month-old breast-fed baby, so plenty of runny poos to be contained!
As suggested on the website we got the Bumgenius Elemental for night time.

Nice nappy, only downside is it's a bit bulky on a small baby - but then I have chosen to use the slimmest nappies I can find so in the grand scheme of things this only shows up by comparison.

Very pleased with this nappy, and will be buying more especially when our little one goes to nursery, as this is the simplest to use nappy I've come across yet. I also think it looks great, has been very reliable thus far, and dries very quickly.

Pretty, easy, quick and does the job

Really love the various patterns with the Bumgenius Freetimes, especially the new Austen. Nappies look great under outfits and are slimmer than other nappies so easier to fit under tighter fitting clothes.
Vest extenders still useful.
Fits well although started to gape at front on my 15week old.
Contains poosplosions but needs changing regularly (2-3hours) otherwise get little wee leaks. Love these as our daytime nappy. Grandma and daddy friendly too 😊

Love the pattern, fit around front could be better
Wednesday, 7 September 2016  |

This is a very trim fit nappy. Love the butterfly fastening which is lovely and stretchy. I bought the Alicia patter which is absolutely gorgeous on. I do find that the top of the front of the nappy sits a little bit awkwardly because of the way that the pads are stitched in, which means there's some gape when the nappy is on irrespective of which poppers are used. Dries very quickly (but not as quickly as the Motherease Wizard Duo). Most novice friendly nappy I've tried - very simple to work out and therefore very daycare friendly. Great that you don't have to stuff or popper in the pads. The big downside to all similar nappies though is the single gusset which is less protective against explosions than a fitted nappy plus wrap combo. Overall, for reliability, I therefore prefer a fitted nappy as I've had a couple of messy poo leaks with these.

Really simple to use
Tuesday, 23 August 2016  |

Great information on this site - made cloth nappies & the different options accessible for me as a first time mum. Fast delivery & quick replacement when I had a quality control issue. Freetime is quick & easy to use, as the name suggests - clever design, no other parts to find, stuff in, or popper together. We will get a lot of wear from this - it's quick to dry off the rack as it's constructed of two layers of microfibre, not one fat pad. Polyester is not the most environmental choice as it takes a very long time to biodegrade, but it's still a better option than disposibles. I like poppers over Velcro as the waist area is soft & flexible and bends where baby bends. Our 5 month old can't sit up yet so still very floppy in the middle and our Velcro nappies seem a bit restrictive around his fat tummy, like he's wearing a big wide belt. Bumgenius have a nice trim fit under baby's clothes compared to our BambinoMio.

Fantastic service as ever from the nappy lady. These are surprisingly good nappies - I'd gone off microfibre in general as my boy out wees it, but I've never had any problems with the freetime. Fantastic that I can arrange absorbancy and very comfy looking. I wish I'd bought more than just the one, but baby is growing so fast and big it's no longer a good investment for us

Velcro issues!
Monday, 2 May 2016  |

We have been using these nappies for over a year, having transitioned from Terry nappies. We love them! Great absorbency, great containment and they look slim. HOWEVER: we are now having to replace all the ones we bought that had Velcro fasteners. I know they sell kits to replace the Velcro but we have no sewing machine, and no access to one. It's such a shame as they were supposed to be an investment, but has ended up costing us a lot of money.

We were recommended these by the nappy lady. My husband wasn't sure about cloth nappies and having the all in one system, the easy poppers and great fit has really helped him get used to this. The quality is great, my wee one likes the nappies and they contain all bar the worst explosions. They wash well and dry quickly. Really impressed.

Good, easy to use, but urine wicks through around legs quickly
Saturday, 23 January 2016  |

We got these nappies based on the recommendation by the Nappy Lady. My husband was not so keen on washable nappies and after trying some different second-hand ones bought on amazon, the compromise was that we'd get something as simple as a disposable. Plus, it must dry quickly as we have no drier or airing cupboard.

We've been using 15 of them for about 3-4 months now. And this nappy definitely fulfills the criteria above. It's very easy to put on (poppers) and there is no searching for inserts or a suitable wrap. It also dries very quickly. Even if not completely dry, it can be put on, because the microfiber touching the skin will be dry, even when the underlying more absorbent part is still slightly moist.

The poppers allow a good fit around the waist and legs. In contrast to disposables, we've never had a poop leak, as they close well around the back.

IMO this nappy has one big downside: At the seam around the legs, the inner lining goes further out than the cover material. I.e. when put on, the inner lining easily comes in touch with tight clothes like leggings or tights. And after about 3-4 hours, the urine will wick through even though the nappy does not seem particularly wet. This means this nappy needs to be changed much more regularly than I change disposables when we go abroad. And we've had several urine leaks so far. I feel this problem could be solved easily if the seam was sewn so that the cover extends slightly further than the inner lining.

Another slightly disappointing things are the colors. The colors we received were not as advertised.
Especially for Jolly: This looked to us like a pistachio, but then was a bright-neon-yellow nappy.
I returned the jolly nappy as it was not what I had ordered. On my feedback, I was told that colors look different on different screens. I asked if, since this is known to be the case, a short written description of colors could be given. However, I see this has not been made yet. I think this would avoid some disappointment. I plan on using this nappy on at least two children. I'd like to be happy with the colors.

So, overall we've been very happy with this nappy and enjoy putting on colorful nappies each time.
But since it is quite expensive and the urine wicking is annoying, I would think about using a quick drying shaped nappy like the Teddy Nappies and a good wrap like the motherease ones instead.
But then, these might have other downsides... And the BG Freetime it is overall a good nappy!

Bumgenius Freetime One size cloth nappy with poppas
Saturday, 2 January 2016  |

I got these for my daughter to use. She now has two little ones in cloth nappies. She loves them and can use the same ones for the 22 month old as the 4 month old. She used disposables briefly when the new baby was born and was appalled at the amount of waste they created. These cloth nappies are brilliant, she likes the poppa version best because the Velcro began to lose it's 'stick' after 18months. She found the advice from Nappy Lady very useful when she first decided to use cloth nappies.

No matter what i do with this nappy my son leaks through.
I change him roughly every 2-3 hours but in his bum genius i usually have to change him pretty much half hour later.

I've tried washing it a few extra times to maybe help with the absorbancy but had no luck.

Maybe its because my son is quite chunky and a heavy wetter... but yeah, no matter what this one creates wet patches after only half hour-hour of wear time. So glad i only bought one, and i wont be buying another. Was NOT worth the 21 and a big regret. I could have bought a couple more Bamboozles instead

My husband and I are very impressed with BG freetime. It's easy to use with lots of configuration with the inserts. We've only used these for a week and so far no leaks at all compared to the other brand we've got. On our second day, I thought my husband used the bamboozle so I didn't bother to change my daughter until the morning. To my surprise, it was the freetime. 10 hours my daughter was in it and there wasn't any sign of leaks at all! Very slim fit. My daughter is 7 weeks old and she is 14 lbs already!

The delivery and customer service is excellent as well. Very fast delivery and quick response from Wendy.

Fast-drying and easy to use
Wednesday, 2 September 2015  |

We bought these on recommendation from The Nappy Lady, for daytime use. They are very, very fast-drying - dry in a couple of hours on the line, and also quick-drying on an airer inside the house. We wash them on a 60 degree cycle without extra rinse, using Ecover powder, and they come up beautifully clean. The flushable liners are a useful addition to minimise rinsing of dirty nappies. We bought the nappies with poppers, they're simple to use, secure and make washing easy (no need to secure tabs first). We have yet to have a leak with these and love the simplicity of the all-in-one design. Just a couple of small downsides: 1. They are pretty bulky, so when our daughter's been on the cusp of moving up a clothes size she's had to go up a bit early so that the clothes fit round the nappy, and 2. They seemed a bit big to use on her when she was newborn, though they are advertised as being usable from 8lb upwards. This may be a matter of opinion. All in all, great and glad we chose them!

Lovely colours and fit on my 8 week old, who's average to chunky! They last up to around 3-4 hours for us and the stay dry fabric is fab. They wash up like new and dry really quickly. Great, good looking nappy
Monday, 22 December 2014  |

I have tried numerous cloth nappies and I feel this is a great nappy for out and about in the day for easy changing, for someone who doesn't want the slightly more faff of the 2 part system, or nappy changers who don't want to risk touching a wee soaked nappy! They are good looking, as bulky as most cloth nappies, really easy to use, and dry perfectly quickly. Personally I prefer poppers (more durable and don't stick together in the wash even using the wash tabs). They fit very well as my baby grows, so far she is 6 months old. Personally I would use a 2 part nappy system at home and overnight for better containment and absorbancy. I like brith to potty nappies for economy.

Easy nappy to use and good absorbency

I love the Bumgenius. They fit my (quite chubby and tall) 5 month old boy really well at the moment. I don't know how long they will fit him as I have already undone all the front poppers.

They used to look a bit bulky when my son was smaller, but this is normal for a AIO nappy. They look quite slim now that my son is older compared to my Little Lamb Pocket nappies and much more absorbent. They hardly leak. I don't use them for night time. They are very easy to use as well. The colour also stays very bright. Very happy with this purchase.

We used these on our newborn once he got home from hospital at 7 1/2 lbs and they are brilliant. No leaks, poppers make them easy to use and fit and with 15 we just do a wash every other day until we can buy more. We don't have a garden but they dry in a few hours in the airing cupboard. We use with the little lamb boosters overnight. Much nicer than disposables, nice and soft around his legs and near his healing belly button.

Great Reusable Nappy!
Wednesday, 8 October 2014  |

Before my little boy was born, I ordered a selection of different all in one reusable nappies. I wanted to try out a few different types to see which ones I preferred. Having used the Bumgenius Freetime for a few weeks now, I can honestly say that they are the best of my selection - by far! They are very absorbent, easy to put on and fantastic quality! The elasticated tabs allow the nappies to be put on with ease and the poppers close really well - in fact it is very satisfying to hear them click together so well! The other nappies I had purchased (not from The Nappy Lady) were TotsBots Easyfit V3 and Bambino Mio Miosolo. The TotsBots nappies also have poppers but these are such a pain to clip together. This is not the case with the Bumgenius Freetime nappy. The Bambino nappies are a little large - even when set on the smallest size and because of this, they leak a little. I actually find myself washing the Bumgenius Freetime nappies frequently just so that I can use them more often than the others! Overall, it is a great nappy and I would highly recommend it!!

By far my favourite of the all in ones in the trial.
Very soft outer and inners to the touch, soft against baby's Bum. I particularly like how you can fold the inserts to suit baby's gender, and how the are stitched at both ends of the wrap.
The poppers are very easy to use and more difficult for baby to undo. I have never had a leak, even runny poos stick to the edge rather than busting out at the leg.
These all in ones are so easy, even my husband gets on with them. They take about a day to dry which is good for me.
I love these so much I now have 15!

These nappies are great, especially as a first time mum! We switched to full time cloth nappies when baby was two weeks when we saw just how much waste was bring produced from disposables. I had thought before it would be too much extra work, but these make it all really easy- it's just one extra wash every couple of days, and they dry really quickly. They're just as easy as normal nappies to use, and the different folds you can use with these make them even more convenient (we double gold one later at the front for our little boy). As a bonus, we've never had a poo leak in these, and for some reason he never wees when the nappy's taken off- he always on the rare occasions we have to use disposables!

Better than I expected!
Sunday, 14 September 2014  |

I was nervous about investing so much in cloth nappies without having used cloth before, but I'm so glad I did! I have a total of 15 now and for our newborn, that's just barely enough to get by. I do have to run a load basically every night, but the nappies dry overnight in our flat. If he continues to go through the nappies so quickly I'll probably purchase a few more.

My son was 7lb 10oz at birth and the BG Freetimes didn't fit him properly until he reached 9lb when he was about 2 weeks old. The transition to cloth was really easy and such a relief. As it turns out, our baby has his dad's extremely sensitive skin and was peeling badly from disposables after being only a few days old. The problem cleared up within a couple of weeks of using the Freetimes.

Further, my husband, who was worried about cloth not being as easy to manage as disposables, LOVES the Freetimes because of their ease of use and due to these nappies being much easier on our son's skin.

Lastly, I'm very pleased with the Nappy Lady's service. Delivery has always been very prompt and she's responded to any question I've had. Thank you!

I have used these for one month for my 3 m old and 2.5 year old (in size 6 nappies), and found them easy to clean, pretty slim under clothes, nice to handle, very quick to dry and reasonably absorbant (1 wet leak from the baby after a few hours). I use in combination with bamboozle stretchies, mainly as the changing bag nappy, but i do like them!

Great workhorse nappy

These stand up really well to regular use and washing and are a great alternative to a pocket. When I haven't got any nappies ready folded, these are the first I reach for off my airer; just bung a liner in and they're ready to go!

bumgenius worth the money

After growing put of the muslin nappies with mother ease wraps, I shopped around, looking for something easy to use, fast to dry and not too bulky. I hadn't wanted to pay a lot but in the end I decided the investment in these nappies was worth it. They are so quick to change, even my husband uses them! Drying time is very good and they feel really soft and don't cut in around my girls chunky legs! I went for poppers so I can have the leg setting loiser than the waist. Only downside is that our heavy wetter needs a change every 3 hours or we get leaks, so may consider boosters for going out and about. Contains breast milk poo also. A worthwhile investment!

Great nappy and easy to use

Really happy with these nappies. They are very easy to use (as easy as a disposable) and I have only had 1 leak since I started using them. They do take a number of washes to reach full absorbency so need changing around every 2 hours until the 7/8 wash. Great designs too I just wish there were more.

I am new to cloth nappies and I now have 5 BG freetimes. I love them, I haven't had any leaks and they look so much nicer than a disposable. Can't wait to get more and build my rainbow 😊

Lovely slim nappies

Initially I loved these nappies on my daughter as they were so easy to use, absorbant and none of the hassle of stuffing etc.

The inners were lovely and soft but bobbled quickly and I soon found that the elastics were too tight for my daughter as she grew, although this has been a problem with all bumgenius/birth to potty nappies for us.

I also found the pouches in the flaps awkward when it came to adding extra absorbancy as they only go about a third of the way down the flap which wasn't big enough for anything but I did manage to lay a bamboo under the flaps without a problem.

Excellent nappies. As a first time cloth user I found these really easy to use. Never had any leaks, they dry easily overnight in the shed, and look really good too.
