Product Details

The Bare & Boho V3 insert is designed specifically to go with the Bare & Boho one size covers. These inserts snap in to the lining of the Bare & Boho OSFM Nappy Shells, making for an easy and simple system.  With 4 Layers of absorbent fabric and double-layered side gusseting around the thigh contour these inserts are designed for maximum anti-leak protection.

The one-sized insert will naturally appear bulkier on a newborn than a toddler, however they will grow into the bulk rapidly, and it means parents do not need to monitor the sizing differences and worry about purchasing more inserts as their baby grows.

The Bare & Boho V3 insert is available in two options.

Hemp-Organic Cotton Blend Hemp is a very sustainable and organically grown fibre. It is also a durable fabric. As it doesn't have any synthetic blend, hemp can have a tendency to dry quite stiff, and can be very textured. But once against the body, softens with baby’s body warmth. Hemp is also incredibly absorbent.

Bamboo-cotton with quick dry Microfleece top layer. The Bamboo based Stay-dry Insert is slightly more affordable which can impact on decision making. Although bamboo stems from a natural source being the bamboo plant, it does undergo extensive processing to convert it to a fibre. Bamboo inserts are blended with cotton, so there are no other added synthetic blends. Bamboo-Cotton is an absorbent and thirsty fabric. With the added benefit of the top layer being microfleece, this insert will feel dry to the touch as microfleece wicks away moisture.

Bare and Boho Care Guide

Prewash before use

Our natural fibre inserts require washing before use, to increase absorbency and release any natural oils. So once you have received your brand new nappies, we recommend  following the below steps before use. There is no need to wash the shells but some people choose to do so for hygiene reasons.

  • Option 1: Soak items overnight in water, followed by main wash. 2-3 hour cycle (Cottons/Heavy Duty), 40 degrees.
  • Option 2: 3-5x Main wash cycles. 2-3 hour cycle (Cottons/Heavy Duty) Max 40 degrees. Detergent needed for first cycle only. Don’t dry in between washes.

Stretch: Once washed and before drying, stretch all inserts to maximum shape by pulling out gusset aps and ends. Slight shrinkage with the natural fibre inserts will occur. Stretching when wet, and before drying, is vital.

Regular Washing

  • Hand-rinse and dry-pail end of each day: Shake/scrape/rinse solid waste off inserts in to toilet. Use soft silicone scrub brush to remove waste off inserts, shells and elastics. Use soap bar such as ‘Tuff Stuff’ to gently agitate any stains. (Remove net from bar for gentler agitation). Squeeze water out, place in the dry-pail*, until machine wash day.
  • Rinse Cycle Every 1-2 Days: 30-45 Min. 40-60 degrees. . Designed to remove excess soiling. (1/2 dose recommended detergent for your machine). Select cycle which removes soiled water. Dry-pail if not following wash with the main cycle immediately.
  • Main Cycle Every 2-3 days: 2-3 Hour (Cottons/Heavy Duty). 40-60 degrees. Use recommended dosage of detergent for your load size. Double dosage for recommended eco-detergents.
  • Drying: Line dry in direct sunlight. Tumble-dry or portable clothes airer suitable (excluding nappy shells, shade dry only. Do not tumble-dry shells or place in direct sunlight as this can cause damage long term and void warranty.) *Before drying, stretch all wet inserts to maximum shape.

Washing Tips

  • Dry-pail: Open lid storage bucket/basket featuring holes all around sides for maximum air ow. Kept dry, no soaking necessary unlike traditional cloth nappies.
  • For ideal agitation, ensure machine is loosely loaded fully when dry (or equates to being 2/3 full once wet.) Smaller household laundry items (excluding towels) are needed to help bulk the load. *Choose light coloured laundry items.
  • Avoid highly perfumed or acidic detergents containing citrus or phosphates.
  • Avoid detergents containing fabric softeners, optical brighteners or chlorine bleach. Usage will void your warranty.
  • Avoid nappy balms containing zinc or petroleum unless using a reusable/disposable liner.
  • Long term use of higher temperatures on PUL can decrease lifespan and will void your warranty.

Definitely needs a few washes before max absorbency
15 April 2022  |

To begin with i put it through 3 washes before using and it wasn't very absorbent but I have found it has gotten more absorbent now that it's been washed a few times. These along with the bamboo booster make the nappies much more reliable

Absorbant and convenient
11 January 2022  |

The hemp inserts dry a lot faster than I was expecting! I use them in the bare and boho covers. They are a bit of an odd fit but work. I like that one end is wider and uou can pop it in either way. I pop the wide end at the front as I have a boy.

Super thirsty hemp booster
20 September 2021  |

The hemp boosters are super thirsty, although they started to look a bit tatty a few months in they are still very effective.

Good absorbency, stayed soft
19 September 2021  |

Nappy sent free of charge as part of ambassador role. Views are my own.

Easy and quick to use. Offers good absorbency (I don’t need to boost for my average-wetting toddler). The fleece has stayed soft even in hard water.

Thirsty insert, but a little small
24 June 2021  |

Generally I really like these inserts as they’re slim and pretty thirsty. However I do find them a bit small in the middle and they tend to bunch up too.

New version of inserts inferior
06 May 2021  |

There seems to be a new version of the one size inserts to the original ones. The new version is smaller and doesn't fit as well in the nappy, less absorbent and of inferior quality. Would not repurchase again. This is disappointing as the old version of the inserts was good.

Good inserts
22 March 2021  |

These inserts are fine and do what they need to do though I was frustrated that they don’t fit into the wraps easily on the smallest setting. It takes a lot of squishing to get them in and in the end I didn’t try and attach the front popper as it just didn’t want to work. Absorbency is good though after all the many washes they require before use.

Bare and boho covers
15 February 2021  |

They are the best i have ever come Across.
I have been using cloth nappies on my children and foster children for the last 18 years now and bare and boho have beaten all other products.

Good insert
03 August 2020  |

I have to say, I don't get on with the Bare & Boho nappy - I find the fit really odd, requiring quite a lot of irritating fiddling. I much prefer performance to pretty prints! However, I discovered that their inserts work really well inside other wraps - they snap perfectly into Petit Lulu wraps, my Blueberry Capri, and even lay neatly (without poppering) inside a Peenut - since the Peenut isn't double gusseted, the elastic on the insert works well.

So simple to use and high absorption
24 March 2020  |

We’ve tried a couple of types of nappies before but none compare to this brand. So easy to use, such great quality and soft fabric. Only downside is the drying time is very slow and even with a tumble dryer I struggle to get them dry.

Great absorbency - imperfect shape.
10 March 2020  |

This inserts take a lot of wee - they are really absorbent! The shape is not perfect though. The idea is great, but they are too wide at the front, and they either way stick outside the cover or - if I force them inside - they squish weirdly just in front causing my little one a bit of discomfort. I think this inserts should be wider at the back, but narrower at the front, and the most narrow part of it should be not in the centre of it, but moved slightly forward.

Excellent absorbancy and excellent quality. I find that they last around 4 hours before they get sopping wet (hemp).
