Big Kid Pants Overview

Motherease Big Kid training pants are designed to look and feel like big kids pants but still offer the leak-proof protection needed for accidents. They are designed to look more like normal underwear and a move from wearing nappies.

With soft binding and stretchy elastics the Mother-ease Big Kid Pants are easily manipulated by a child providing the independence your child needs while the absorbent inner provides the protection against accidents.

The absorbent pad inner is made from Mother-ease's super absorbent cotton knit fabric. The Big Kid Pants offer the absorbency needed to ensure complete reliability and wet feel to discourage future accidents.

The outer layer is made from Motherease leakproof polyester cover fabric the same as used in their famous nappy wraps.

How do I use it?

The Mother-ease Big Kid Pants do not require anything to be added into them.

Where your child is in the earier stages of toilet training, these waterproof pants ensure that there are no puddles, if they do not get to the toilet in time.

They will hold a full wee quite reliably until your child gets to the toilet, not just that "caught short" dribble. Ideal for use at nursery or day trips out.

For slightly older children you can use them as incontinence pants for kids rather than purely training pants. The Big Kid Pants are loved by children who are basically dry at night, but feels unconfident about going to bed without some form of protection.

Machine washable at 60c and can be tumble dried on low.

Is your child ready for potty training? Read our guide "potty training in cloth nappies."

Nappy Fabric

Waterproof outer - 100% polyester PUL in the same fabric as the Mother-ease wraps.

Inner absorbency- ense 85% cotton inner, 15% polyester

Mother-ease's natural fabrics contain a small percentage of polyester in the core of the fabric and this polyester never touches your babies delicate skin. Mother ease's fabrics are custom knit specifically for them and include a poly core for shrinkage control + durability - as a natural fabric that has to endure this many washes would wear out too quickly using only 100% cotton.

Care & Warranty

Mother-ease Care Guide

Initial Wash

  • Add no more than 10-12 nappies to your washer & dryer in each initial wash. Remember to check your lint screen before each wash & dry.
  • Set your washing machine to a full wash cycle with a large size load for 10-12 nappies (smaller if less nappies). Use only HOT water.
  • Add your detergent - see detergent disclaimer.
  • Line dry or machine dry the diapers on a medium heat setting.

Regular washing

  • Be sure to wash your cloth nappies at least every other day. If the soiled nappies are stored longer, run them through the initial rinse cycle and toss back into your nappy pail. (Tip - you can add 1/2 oz of laundry detergent to the rinse cycle to start cleaning sooner.)
  • Use your washing machines normal wash cycle and set the water temperature to hot. Use a large load size (for 12-18 soiled nappies + covers) and add the detergent manufacturers recommended amount of detergent. Then let the machine take care of the rest!  (Tip - running the diapers through an extra rinse creates unnecessary wear and over the 2 1/2 years of use, you will reduce the longevity of your diapers). (Tip 2 - Select your washing machines Sanitary Cycle for even hotter water if you can.)
  • Once your nappies have finished the wash cycle, it's time to dry them. You can either line or machine dry them;

Line Drying - hang to dry in your basement or outside on the line. (Tip - Sun naturally removes stains. Even works on a cold, winters day as long as the sun is out

Machine Drying - Toss in your dryer on medium heat (low for covers). (Tip - Tossing line dried diapers into your dryer for a short cycle will fluff them up but tumbling action adds additional wear)

*Coloured diapers may bleed and should be washed accordingly

Mother-ease Warranty

Mother-ease offers a lifetime warranty on our Snaps and Elastics.
This warranty is for the reasonable lifetime of the diaper. This does not cover slight relaxing of elastics.

Mother-ease offers a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on our:
Sandys,  Fitted Diapers, One Size Fitted Diapers, Wizard Duo Inserts, Reusable Nursing Pads, Baby Wipes, Absorbent Liners and Wizard Boosters.

This covers product stitching, seams and fabric holes discovered immediately upon receipt of item. This does not include normal wear and tear, slight variances in snap placement, odour issues, pilling, leaks, staining, repelling and holes or tears in the fabric or loose stitching due to wash routine or regular use.

Mother-ease offers a 6-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on our:
Diaper covers, Wizard Uno's, Big Kid Training Pants and Bedwetter Pants.

This covers product stitching, seams, holes discovered upon arrival, and irregular deformity. This does not cover staining, fading, slight variances in snap placement, leaks, pilling, holes or tears in fabric or loose stitching that develop due to wash routine or regular use (items caught, torn or melted in the washer/dryer).

This warranty is available only to the original purchaser from the date of purchase.

All warranty is null and void when products containing harsh solvents such as hydrogen peroxide (oxygen bleach), sodium percarbonate or optical brighteners are used.

When washing your covers Mother-ease recommend you wash them in a mesh bag to keep them away from Velcro on your nappies and from getting caught in washing machine doors.  Always secure the Velcro on your wraps so they don't stick to the binding in the wash.
Please contact us if you think you have a faulty product and need to claim under the Mother-ease warranty. We will liaise with Mother-ease for you. Mother-ease will require any product to be returned or destroyed before a replacement.

The manufacturer may ask for proof of which detergent you have been using during the period you've had the item so we strongly recommend you keep your receipts you can prove you've been washing following the supplier's guidelines.  A photo of the detergent box and a photo of the detergent ingredients will be needed plus receipts of detergent purchases in the time you have owned the faulty nappies (usually 1 or 2 receipts showing purchases across the previous 6 months).  If you have bought Mother-ease's detergent through us during the time you've used the nappies please let us know and we'll have all your receipts already on record for you.

Mother-ease decision on any warranty claim is final.

Perfect for night time

My daughter is dry during the day but still wears a nappy at night. I wanted to encourage her to start getting up to use the potty. These pants are great. The feeling of wet wakes her up and she stops weeing and gets up to the potty. Still hit and miss with her but the pants do exactly what I wanted.
They wash well and dont take an age to dry either.

A great pair of pants to help with potty training
Rating:
16 August 2022  |

These have been a God send in helping potty train my third child. She is forever busy in the car taking the other two to clubs etc that doing the whole staying at home bit with her is impossible!
These have been great for those journeys and waits outside a club. Mainly peace of mind of mind for me!
They will catch an accident enough to get to a potty in time. They have just been really handy on long car journeys to get on holiday too.
So, all in all, these have been key in potty training here and I think they will become night time pants shortly, as dc is mostly dry at night, so they will be a perfect ‘just in case’.

Great for potty training reassurance

Customer review of free product

These are great for reassurance when potty training, or for naps/car journeys. They'll catch a wee (although not a flood) and the toddler still gets the wet feeling to encourage learning. Good quality PUL on the outside, bamboo terry on the inside. My toddler found them easy to pull up and down.

One down side is that they don't have poppers to take them off, so if there is a poo it could be messy to remove! They also aren't the cheapest option. Overall, however, a great product.

Great for nighttime
Rating:
16 December 2021  |

We use these at night. My very stubborn 4 year old wets her bed every night but refuses to use nappies because she is a big girl now. I was between the Big Kid pants and the Mother-ease Bedwetters but the bulkiness of the Bedwetters put me off. After months of having to wash her bedding daily we are all very glad for her “big girl nighttime pants”. The designs are lovely. They can hold a full wee and only had a couple of tiny leaks in two months of use. They still feel wet so she wakes up to change pants most nights. But it is much better to changing all her clothes and bed. And she is back to sleep in no time. In overall we are all very happy with the Big Kid pants.

Using these as a quick pull up to put on after swimming for my 18 month old. So they definitely keep wee in!

great pants

These pants have given us a chance to give feedback over night of being wet and allowed us to take the leap from pull ups over night to cloth. They hold a small wee....not a massive one. Which is great for us at this stage.

Absolutely fantastic!

We use these on the night. My son just turned 3 and is dry 75% of the time during the night. Unfortunately, the rare occasion he does have an accident, the bed change means we all end up for the day at 1,2 or 3am. These contain a full we perfectly and although he wakes due to the wetness, I can just pull them off and he's back to sleep within minutes.

Only downside is they're pricey. I'm glad I only needed 2 pairs!

good product, albeit little pricey

good pants, very well made, good quality and leakproof. only problem I've got is with the price. they are a bit pricey and since you need at lest 3 pairs to be able to change them and not have to wash straight away after an accident and panic. there should be some bulk purchase discount.

Great night pants for preschoolers

Impressed with these pants. Our 4 year old is dry about half the time at night and needed something for that bit of protection. He isn't keen on the bulk of the ME Bedwetter and struggles to pull them up so these 'nightime pants' work really well for us.

Potty Training Winner
Rating:
05 September 2019  |

I bought 2 pairs of these to support us with potty training as my 2.5 year old has pretty much cracked it but still needs reassurance when we go out. These are ideal as they hold a wee, but allow her to realise when she's wet herself. I thought she'd cracked pooing in potty or toilet but she did one in these yesterday. A bit of a nightmare getting off, so if your little one is still pooing in nappies, I'd suggest an 'undoable' option. However, I was relieved at how well it washed up. Also, the small is a little bit small I think, even though my daughter is quite slim. She seems to finds them comfy and lovely s the pretty 'grown up' design, but they leave slight red marks around her waist and legs. Maybe they'd leak if looser though?

Motherease big kid pants
Rating:
12 March 2019  |

Daughter seems to like them (we went for the spotty one) and they seem to do the job of holding a decent amount of wee without leaking. We’ve ordered two more to replace the ones with separate outer and inner, which seem to leak more and are too bulky with two pads.

Robust training pants
Rating:
09 December 2018  |

These training pants are the quality I have come to expect from Motherease products, my little girl loves her pretty 'big girl' pants and I love the fact that they completely contain a full wee if she gets caught short in the car. I just wish I could afford a few more! One thing I would say though, little one is 26lbs, at the lower end of the suggested weight for the small and these pants only just fit so if you are deciding between sizes, size up unless your little one has a skinny bottom!

works well

contains quite a bit of urine well, which seems to be the problem with most training pants, and very importantly mashine washes at 60C. A bit bulkier than other makes.

Great training pant

My daughter is now very reliable with toileting apart from when asleep. These are perfect for long car journeys where she might go to sleep.
It held onto a single wee really well- I didn't realise she had even gone as no leaks.
Plus they look and feel just like knickers. They wouldn't be suitable for night time but for added day protection they get 5 stars.

Good fit and very comfortable

Good fit and very comfortable for my little one but she's not quite ready for them so have had a few leaks. On her good toilet days they provide just enough protection to get her sorted!
