Charlie Banana nappies are a onesize nappy which fits most children birth to potty.  The nappy size is adjusted through altering the elastic setting at the legs. The elastic is pulled tight for small babies and gradually released as babies grows. The elastic has sizes marked on it to make it simple to alter, there is an xs, 2 small settings, 2 med settings and 2 large settings. The elastic is altered just like a bra strap so there aren't any buttons like the in previous Charlie Banana versions. The elastic is hidden in the nappies fleece lining so can't be seen on soiled or irritate. While it seems like altering the elastic to fit is fiddly you must remember you'll only be altering the fit when baby grows so normally when you put the nappy on you won't need to alter it at all. Must of the alterations will be in the first 6 months when baby is growing rapidly but after this it could be 3-6months between needing to alter them.

The nappy is made up of a waterproof outer pocket and you insert your washable inserts inside, Charlie Banana comes with microfibre inserts. The lining of the nappy is soft fleece to keep baby dry and comfy. The small insert is to fit in the nappy length positions xs and smalls, the larger pad is for the nappy length positions med and large. You can use both pads together when the nappy is in the larger setting to give you more absorbency but this does make it bulkier. A great tip is when you stuff the pocket make sure you insert the pad with the Charlie Banana label towards the front. Then when you unstuff the nappies to put them in the bucket you can pull on the label so you don't have to touch the wet pad.

You have the option of either using the cloth reusable inserts inside the nappy pouch or if required you can use the disposable inserts. Our preference would be to use the cloth inserts. The Flip Disposable inserts fit perfectly.

Charlie Banana isn't the longest pocket/all in one nappy (MioSolo still wins that) but I find it's longer than Bumgenius and slimmer too so it makes it a great choice for tall (but not SUPER tall) toddlers. Due to its narrowness I find it too slim for Super big chunky monkeys but for the vast majority of children slim to chunky it's fab!

I always recommend washing nappies at 60deg however the Charlie Banana recommends washing no higher than 40deg. If you wash over 40deg this negates the Charlie Banana guarantee so reluctantly I recommend washing Charlie Banana at 40deg (personally I still wash mine at 60deg with my other nappies but that is at your own risk!)

loved these at first

I loved these from about 10lb on my little girl, they were my favourite, my go to nappy but the moment we needed to use the second booster it was massive on her! Really bulky! Used a little lambs bamboo booster instead of the second banana booster but she soon out weed that so now they're sitting unused in the box

First time using cloth nappies and took a few adjustments to get the fit correct but so happy with these now. Very easy to put on. A bit of a knack to adjusting leg elastic but doesn't need to be done often. Super cute prints.

Loving these nappies

I wish I had of chosen to use these with my first two boys. They are so easy to use, wash and dry. The booster pads take slightly longer to dry than the nappies. They are comfortable on the baby, easy and fast to do in the dark when awake for a midnight feed. Have not used them yet for proper weaned poos but they are perfect so far with breastfed poos and heavy wees. So happy with this product.

Great nappy!
Tuesday, 20 September 2016  |

Love this nappy.
Baby was only 9lbs when we starated with cloth and it's a great fit! It's one of our most trustworthy nappies, great for days out and long trips. Very absorbant and never had a leak. We are still only using one insert at 11 weeks old.
Was really easy to adjust the legs to make them smaller, finding it more difficult to loosen them back off tho.
It is quite a short nappy which is working okay for as atm not sure if it would be good on a longer baby tho.

I've found this easy to se, I love the colours and clothing fits better over it than with other pocket nappies. Generally it's been quite reliable, but it's not coped 100% with big poos, hence four stars.

I got a couple of the Charlie bananas to try on my newborn having used the bumgenius free time on my toddler since birth. I found the straps easy to adjust and a good fit around his chunky wee legs. Great absorbancy and nice soft lining. Not as slim fitting as bumgenius but this doesnt bother me. Would definitely recommend.

Good daytime nappy but not super absorbent
Friday, 12 August 2016  |

I really like this nappy, really easy and quick to put on and lovely colours. It is quite a narrow fit between the legs and poos often go right to the edge of the nappy but as yet no escapes! The boosters are really quick drying (usually dry in 2-3 hours on the line or hung in the airing cupboard), however they are not the most absorbent - I have to change my 12week old every 1.5-2hrs in these, and because of the slim fit there isn't much room for boosting as the 2 included boosters are quite bulky together. But i have found that using the little lambs bamboo boosters and inserts works well. It's quite a nice trim fit on my baby but she is already in the smaller medium elastic setting on the legs - she is only 12weeks/5.5kg and 50th centile so not a big baby - will be interesting to see if they last her nappy lifetime. Overall it's a good daytime nappy though and an easy option from disposables which my husband hasn't taken issue with!

Got this on Nappy Lady's advice... Impressed by the softness and comfort. Tend to use both inserts so that it lasts longer, but that doesn't bother me, and the fleece does a good job of staying dry as long as possible. Not had much experience of poo in this nappy yet.

Gorgeous design (polar bear), v cute. However, bit fiddly to adjust and doesn't last more than about 2 hours before leaking. It is slim fitting under clothes and my baby seems to find it comfortable to wear.

My favourite nappies
Saturday, 2 January 2016  |

I have used bumgenious all in ones and motherease sized all in ones, and the Charlie Bananas are my favourite. The poppers on Charlie Bananas are larger and much easier to do up quickly than the other nappies. The was a life saver for me and my active toddler who hated being still for nappy changes and fought and wriggled! Easy size adjustment and good absorbency, better than bumgenious. All the real nappies I used were good, but CB were my favourites and would highly recommend them. Used from a few months old through to potty training.

Nice nappy but not the most absorbent
Monday, 28 December 2015  |

I wanted to love this nappy as it feels and looks great and the adjustable leg elastic is a fantastic idea. However, we found it was more difficult than other nappies to get a good fit and although it is relatively slim with just one booster in (on the larger small setting) it isn't the most absorbent - it only lasted 2 hours before we had a leak.

Super slim?
Friday, 11 September 2015  |

I started usin these nappies when my little one was around 4 weeks old. I loved them because they did not look too bulky and they do a good job of keeping the wetness away from baby's skin. However a couple of weeks later they started leaking because I was using one insert so I added the second insert and they became SUPER bulky....... They look more massive than my Bumgenius and Pop in one size nappie I can't get any clothes to fit! This is really putting me off I've stopped using them.

We've tried a few different nappies for our daughter (now 11 months old) and this is by far our favourite. We've tried Mio bambino miosolo, bum genius and wonderoos - but this one has been the most successful. It's slim fitting, easy to put on, quick drying and it lasts 4 hours with no leaks. It's very soft inside and fits very comfortably around her legs. Of the nappies we have tried it is the slimmest fitting, which is handy as our daughter is petite. Love them!

Friday, 24 July 2015  |

I've used these with my daughter since she was about 10 lb - the bra strap design on the leg elastic is a bit fiddly but means they can be adjusted to fit a small baby better than some of the other BTPs. The designs a nice and they are nice an absorbent. Though compared to some others they seem quite small so I'm not convinced they will last to toddler age.

I like this nappy. Fits nicely and is quite slim. She can wear it for 4 hours with no leaks. As my daughter is chunky at 12 months I'm a bit dubious it will fit for another year and a half or more until potty training. Maybe it will be roomier once she starts walking and loses weight. But for now very happy with it.

I have a large 8 month old (in 9-12 and 12-18 mth clothing) and some other nappies I've tried are very short and a bit small in comparison. I was concerned about them lasting into toddlerhood but I'm sure these will! They are also very absorbent and dry quickly and stay soft even though we are in a hard water area

Great little nappy
Friday, 27 March 2015  |

I bought one of these in the trial pack.
I really love the design of the bra strap leg elastic. My little boy has super chunky legs do I can adjust this to just the right tension to keep things in but not cut off his circulation!
I ended up getting three packets of these as my staple nappies, for every day use, and a few Bum Genius Elemental and AIO's for out and about and long journeys. This is purely because these can be a bit bulky if you have to pack them up for a car journey, and I have a heavy wetter.
I also love the designs of the fabric, which I think has spurred some of my friends and family on to try cloth as well!

Its ok
Thursday, 8 January 2015  |

I like this nappy, but don't love it. The adjustment with elastic band works well, but it does leave quite a hard 'knot' digging into baby's skin. I also don't see any advantage in having the pocket opening at the front. It makes the nappy prone to pee leaks (esp. during tummy time/napping on belly) and its annoying to remove wet inserts, fingers will touch the pee. Finally, prefer natural inserts such as bamboo and hemp. I have one of these and continue to use it but will not be buying any more.

Charlie banana now sell separate hemp inserts if you'd prefer these to the microfibre inserts they come with.

gorgeous quick drying and good containment
Wednesday, 17 September 2014  |

Love our Charlie Bananas and not just because of the cute name. Our little girl is quite long and slim. The adjustments on these both lengthways and width ways are great. We can get quite a snug fit around her legs once we have the settings figured out. Had a few urine leaks before we got the settings right but since then, we've been fine. And they have also contained the messiest poos. They are lovely and soft inside and inserts and pockets make assembling and taking apart so easy. They dry really quickly as well. The pockets are nearly dry straight out of the wash and airing overnight finishes them and inserts off. We haven't been using them too long but am totally converted. Even granny likes them!

Love these but not as much as Bumgenius
Monday, 8 September 2014  |

I've been trying quite a few different nappies in my search for one that works for us, and tried this as it looked easy and I like the fact you can use both boosters together. The leg elastics I have found easy to adjust and really like that system of adjustment compared to rise snaps. We've found it very absorbent (especially with both boosters although this does make it bulky but not all that much to be honest), the fleece inner is lovely and soft and keeps skin dry - amazingly so as on first use after pre-washing he wore it for 4 hours and when my husband changed him he commented that it didn't feel wet at all and he was worried our son hadn't wee'd in all that time! Plus it doesn't leave any marks on my son at all. I've knocked off one star though as I feel that it could be slightly wider across the crotch, currently trying out BG V4 and freetimes as well as elementals and they are all that bit wider and so seem to fit just a little better and the V4 pockets are easier to stuff because of that as well (wider pocket). Also because although I don't mind having three snaps, my husband found it a bit confusing!

Excellent on young baby
Monday, 21 July 2014  |

I bought a grab pack of these to try with our second child before she was born to boost our BTP stash. Although now she is averagely chunky at nearly 12 weeks she was very petite at birth. The Charlie Bananas were the only BTP nappies to fit her around the legs without being very bulky everywhere else. The adjustment on the elastic is simple if a little time consuming, but give a great fit even on tiny newborn legs. It looks comfortable on her, whereas my usual favourites - Elementals and V4s - seem very large in comparison, and fit quite awkwardly around her waist in particular.

I knocked a star off for the inserts, as we have had a couple of wet leaks from using the microfibre inserts, but the various bamboo inserts I have are still too big to fit well into the nappy on the small size setting. If Charlie Banana offered a bamboo insert option I would be thrilled. Also, I tried the nappy on the largest setting on our toddler, and it was a bit of a stretch. He is just starting potty training, but if he wasn't I don't think these nappies would be a daily option for him.

Excellent nappies.
Tuesday, 8 July 2014  |

I have been really pleased with these CB nappies.

The nappies fit from birth and the internal adjustment is easy (albeit slightly time consuming) and ensures that they fit snuggly to babies of all sizes. I like the look and design of the nappies and once the internal adjustment has been done are very quick and easy to put on.

I have found the nappies dry reasonably quickly (ie overnight) in the airing cupboard.

The reason I am not giving them five stars is because we have had a few wet leaks. They contain poo well but have leaked wee.

Tuesday, 3 June 2014  |

We are hugely impressed with these nappies. The best thing about them is that they dry REALLY quickly. If we wash them and hang them up before bed, by morning the main nappy is already dry, and by halfway through the day the inserts are pretty much dry too. This has ended up meaning we need less nappies in total as they are back in action so quickly after washing. It's early days for us as we've only been using them about 6 weeks but so far they have washed very well at 40 degrees with no staining at all on the fleece lining and very little on the inserts.

The designs are great - love choosing one to match her outfit at changing time!

The nappies also have good absorbancy (after experimenting we have found that a charlie banana with 2 inserts at night works even better than the nappies we bought specifically for nights) and they can contain some pretty explosive poos without leaking which is a definite bonus.

They are also very slim as washable nappies go. We also have some Little Lamb pocket nappies and although to look at they seem virtually the same, once the little miss is wearing them the Charlie Bananas are noticeably slimmer.

Overall we are over the moon with these and would recommend the to anyone!

Absolutely great nappies!
Monday, 26 May 2014  |

Having never used reusable nappies, we initially got as a grab pack of 3 Charlie Bananas and a couple of Blueberries with poppers to give them a try. We were very pleased with the quality of the materials and the soft feel of both brands. Charlie bananas are are quite slimmer but for this reason it is a bit harder to place the fresh insert in them. This however will no longer be an issue once the strap setting starts moving from XS to bigger sizes. And this happens fast! Both dry really very quickly but the Blueberries come out of the washing machine almost completely dry.
In 3 weeks we only had 2 or 3 leaks even though we've been using them since our daughter was 5.5 pounds. We decided we liked Charlie bananas better and naturally we bought some more : )

Good points: it's absorbent, looks cute and is easy to stuff.

Bad points: the fit isn't brilliant on my 15 month daughter... she needs it on the tightest waist setting (and she's not super small!) so not sure how this would work on a newborn. I know it's a small irritant, but I don't like 3 snaps per side!

Bought this for my skinny little boy to use as BTP. The xs setting does fit him, but the fit isn't really very tidy as the nappy just bunches up at the front. I'm sure we'll get better use out of it once my boy's bigger and on the medium or larger setting. The nappy is high quality in terms of material and the colours are nice and vibrant. Dries nice and quickly.

We have had a few poosplosions which to be honest the force it comes out no nappy could hold but not massive leaks and some that have not leaked at all.

We use them at night too with both inserts and they work really well.

They also wash really well and dry pretty quickly. Will be looking at buying a couple more soon

I used disposable nappies until my baby was 10 months old so wanted something that wouldn't be too bulky for her as she as used to the slimness of a disposable. These nappies are brilliant for that. They are also very generous in size. My little one is now 1 and very tall and very slim but these nappies fit her perfectly, I use them on the top medium setting in length for her so she still has plenty growing room. They are really easy to use, lovely and soft and come in great colours. I particularly like the wide, soft waistband at the back which never digs in to my child's skin the way that some others with a narrower waste band do. We tend to have to use both inserts to avoid leaks but my daughter does drink quite a lot. All in all a comfortable, simple, well made nappy that I would thoroughly recommend trying.

Fantastic nappies!!
Monday, 4 March 2013  |

The Charlie Bananas are very easy to adjust with a clearly labelled 'bra strap' hidden in the folds of the pocket - idiot proof really!
These are a bit wider in the gusset than an Itti Bitti Bitti Tutto and they're a little bit stretchier too.
I love that they come with two pads in small and large, as they can be used separately or together, so the nappy can grow with your child!
Really well made and the stitching is perfect. There are plenty of settings on the waist snaps, and they're very strong gripping poppers too. The leg snaps are an added bonus as the nappy can be adjusted to your baby's shape and size around both the legs and waist.
These are not big and bulky like some other nappies, and are small enough to get quite a few into the changing bag.
My babies are breastfed and I've not had any staining on the inside of the nappies, just occasionally a little on the pads, but are gone within half a day hanging in the window. The main shell dries very quickly, and the pads don't take as long as other brands! The tabs on the inserts are a bonus if you don't like to touch them after use, but that's what gloves and anti-bacterial soap are for!
I wouldn't use as a night time nappy, but with the small insert, baby can get a good 3 hours out of these (probably more, but I like to freshen them up more often than that!)
These don't fit my two year old, but he is a large very solid boy (imagine a giant, wide rugby player just in miniature).
My 3 & 4 year olds enjoy picking out the next design they want their baby brother to wear. We all love the colours and super cute prints.
Would recommend these to all

Super cute, reliable nappy

This size adjustment is so easy, just sort out once and only have to redo when baby grows and the bra strap style adjustment means that there isn't a bulky fold at the front like birth to potty nappies with poppers. They are a really slim nappy to use. I've not had any leaks as of yet with this nappy and only use one of the two inserts it comes with (the one is for a small size and the other is for medium to large but you can double up if you need). They wash great but although they say to wash at 40, I wash at 60 and have not had any issues. The way the poppers are lined up don't seem to work with my baby but it easily lends itself to be creative to where you fasten them. I also appreciate that they have labels on the liners which I know sounds strange but I have many different types of nappies and it's such a time saver to be able to instantly identify which liner goes with which nappy.

Slim Fitting and Attractive

I love Charlie Banana! Even Dad likes them which is a sterling recommendation! They are nice and slim fitting, not as bulky as some other nappies which means that baby can move their legs about freely. I was pleasantly surprised at the absorbency of the reusable inserts as originally I thought they were quite thin, however they hold more than I thought and you always have the option of using both if necessary. The fleece lining keeps baby’s skin nice and dry and is easy to rinse off should you have any ‘escapes’ over the side of your liner!

They are very practical; not too big to fit a few into your changing bag and the nappies themselves dry very quickly, though the inserts do take longer. I only use one insert in the nappy so I always have another while the first set is drying. They come in a range of lovely colours and patterns; plenty of unisex choices but I did give in and buy some cute girly prints too!

All in all a fantastic nappy; you do have a risk of leaking as you don’t have the additional wrap but thankfully we haven’t experienced this yet as they’ve contained most things. I wouldn’t use these at night however; I’ve managed around 2.5-3 hours in one in the day but they wouldn’t last 12 hours which is our benchmark.
