Nappy Overview

The Bumble is a very cleverly designed birth to potty nappy. This makes the Bumble very economical as you only need one nappy rather than having to keep buying different sizes. When the Bumble is changed into the smaller newborn setting (from 10lbs), the fit is still snug on small legs and waist.

The Bumble is available in either popper or nippa fastening. The nippa fastening will offer the best fit because you have total adjustability both left and right and up and down rather than being restricted to where the poppers are. If baby will be going to daycare we recommend you buy the popper version for carer’s ease of use. However you can still use nappi nippas (instead of the poppers) by simply fastening around them, so you get the best of both worlds! Nappi nippas can seem daunting at first but are easy to get the hang of and provide the best fit for containment.  Nappi Nippas must be purchased separately from the nappy.

This is also a very absorbent nappy, excellent as a night nappy or for a heavy wetter. You may find a heavy wetter will need an extra booster for night time. Because of the opening the Bumble can also be stuffed with extra absorbency if required (in addition to or instead of the pop in pad, depending on how much absorbency is needed).  The addition or removal of layers makes it quite a versatile nappy for bulking up or slimming down according to circumstance/clothing.  The easily removed pop in booster also makes this nappy a fast drier.

The Bumble nappy is UK made by one Mum at home. It is a very clever and thoughtfully designed nappy which we like a lot and have stock for over 20 years.

Sizing

The Bumble is a Onesize nappy officially fitting from 7-35lbs however as with any onesize nappy it will fit much better from 10lbs.

The Bumble is particularly suitable for tall or well-built children due to the generous cut and crotch depth and the flexibility offered by the Nippa fastening. This isn't considered a particularly slim nappy in comparison to some of the newer nappies on the market however it's one I've relied on with all my three children and personally love.

How do I use it?

The Bumble comes with a pop in booster pad (included in the price) which pops onto a flap inside the nappy so as not to disturb the smooth line. To use as a newborn nappy, the pop in pad should be removed and the loose flap you are left with should be taken up inside the nappy to reduce the crotch depth. You can then attach the poppers on the flap to the matching poppers part way down the crotch (on the inside) if you wish though this is not essential and you may find it better not to if you need slightly more length in the nappy - it depends on the shape of your baby. If using the popper fastening as a birth to potty nappy you may need to use a Nappi Nippa for a short period at first as the popper placement is not always quite right on a smaller baby.

Nappy Fabric

The Bumble is made from terry cotton with a sewn in liner of fleece that sits next to your baby’s skin. Because the whole inner is fleece lined, it is especially good if you live in a very hard water area and you have problems keeping clothes etc soft. Due to the fleece liner you do not need to use separate paper liners with this nappy but you can if you prefer. The paper liner would sit on top of the fleece liner.

Super Absorbent and Great Fit
Rating:
13 February 2023  |

I started using the Bambooozle for night time with either Disana shorts or Motherease Airflow, but quickly found that with a double booster, I couldn't get a good fit and constantly got leaks. The Bumble nappi nippa option gives a lovely fit around the legs and tummy without being tight. I use with a double Tots Bots booster with one booster folded forward and the poppers just about match up so it all fits well together. That said, we only manage to get about 8 hours of use before a leak as my baby side feeds at night and I haven't yet found an option for good side absorbency!

Soft and reliable
Rating:
18 December 2022  |

We absolutely love the Bumble (and the Bimble!) The nappy is really soft and the design is such that it can be folded tightly around your baby's legs and belly to suit their shape. We have never had a single leak as the nappy is so absorbent and we use Motherease rikkiki or airflow wraps which catch any explosive poops. The nappy lasts for a long time and can be used day or night. Yes they are bulky as they have all the benefits of terry cloth in a pre fold, but it's well worth it for the reliability. I love putting our daughter in these; I feel I am wrapping her up warm and cozy. 🤗

Great nappies
Rating:
27 November 2022  |

I've been using Bumbles for my 6 month old since he was 6 weeks old. I bought them based on TNL recommendation for my 91st centile length baby and I think they're fantastic. The poppers give so many options or you can use a nappy nippa if none seem suitable. I like that the booster can be removed. We use the nappy and booster at night with hemp or ME Staydry booster, nappy and booster for the first day nappy as he wees a lot then and nappy minus booster for the rest of the daytime changes. The fleece lining is always dry feeling even after the heaviest night which must feel nicer on a little bottom. It does give a bulkier look than an all in one but for that you get unbeatable absorbency and leak proofing. I quite like the traditional cloth bum look!

Excellent nappy, great value

25 November 2022  |

These are fantastic nappies and I strongly recommend them. They're absorbent, easy to use and a wonderful fit. I use disposable liners with them, so assembly is a doddle, and they're easy to deal with after use as well, as the lack of velcro means I can just dump them straight in the bucket or bag.I like the nippa fastening, as it gives a really wide range of adjustment, so you can get a perfect fit immediately. One thing I particularly like about these nappies is the way they're so easy to boost for overnight use - just put an extra booster inside the nappy when you make it up, it will almost certainly make its own way out in the wash afterwards. We also inherited a handful of these in my stepson's old stash (he's now 15), but the labels had faded and I didn't identify them until recently. I wish I had figured this out much sooner, as I would have bought more of these, rather than some of the other nappies I own. These old nappies have held up very well - the elastic is now giving out, but in all other respects they're still in great condition, with stitching and pile very much intact.

Great for tall babies
Rating:
07 November 2022  |

Bought these for my taller than average 6 month old after chatting to the Nappy Guru. The elastic on the cuffs and waistband are soft and barely leave a mark on my chunky boy's skin. The fabric is soft and the poppers are more than adequate for him as he grows. The nappy is also less bulky than the Little Lamb Cotton nappies with velcro.Downside for me is absorbency. I use these nappies at night only, and although they have great absorbency, I've found I have to use a Little Lamb Triple Booster to get him through the night without him waking up sopping wet with wee. That said, my boy's a heavy wetter. I do highly recommend this for tall, bulky/slim and heavy wetters. Perfect for that long trip or if your baby sleeps over 10h at night

Perfect from birth to potty
Rating:
25 August 2022  |

We used these from birth on our 7lb baby and right up to potty training with our eldest. They're so adjustable with the nipper to get a perfect fit round the legs. Great for newborn poo containment and all fleece lined so soft and dry on baby's skin. While they're not slim fitting, the bulkiness hasn't been a problem in his clothes, even from birth.

We also use them at night with bamboo boosters - baby is currently 3 months. Highly recommend.
We use with airflows which works well.

My favourite cloth nappy at the moment!
Rating:
10 August 2022  |

Having tested a few different two parts cloth nappies these are my favourites. They are incredibly absorbent and never leak. I can put it on at 10pm and be sure that it will hold anything up until the twins wake up at 7am the next day. I love the napa nippa fastening system as you can custom the nappy to the baby shape and they look gorgeous. The soft material on the inside is perfect against baby skin and makes it easy to wash off any poo in the loo before putting in the washing machine (much easier to do this than with other types of nappies). They come out of the washing machine perfectly white and the inside remains soft even in a hard water area. They are much quicker to dry than other bamboo or cotton only nappies.

Like it but it's bulky
Rating:
28 June 2022  |

My husband particularly likes the fact it has the lining sawn in all the way around. But it is rather bulky and not as absorbant as the LL bamboo. We like that you can adjust the length so easily too! (It has a pocket with the opening as wide as the nappy)

Excellent, good value nappy

I use these on my 2 year old at night and add a booster into the pocket. I love the fact that they keep the child absolutely dry, even though the nappy may be very wet on the outside. In short, it’s a very reliable and cost effective nappy and it also dries very quickly.

The perfect cloth nappy, look no further

I've tried most other brands, 2 part and 1 part systems, and the Bumble wins every time. I now exclusively use these with an airflow wrap! Dries very quickly. Total Containment day and all through the night. Soft on babys bum. Keeps bum lovely and dry, she never cries due to being wet anymore. So easy to use with the nappy nippa. Great value and lower cost than other nappies. Made in the UK by a small business. What's not to love?? Only thing is that they are a little Bulky on a young baby, but we love a big cloth bum too.

Reliable and a good fit but quite bulky

Customer review of free product.

The Bumble is a great nappy, it's very reliable and works well for day or night. For my medium to heavy wetting toddler I use the poppered in insert during the day and I add extra boosters in the pocket if I use it for night. But a younger or lighter wetting baby would need less absorbency. It's great under a Motherease airflow or a wool wrap.

Another great thing about this nappy is that it is fleece lined. Our nappies tend to go crispy due to very hard water but the fleece lining stays soft, with no need to add a separate fleece liner. Its quite a large nappy, with plenty of room for my toddler, although can be poppered down for smaller babies. I have the nippa fastened version which results in a perfect fit.

The only downside side to this nappy is that it is very bulky, which is not necessarily an issue (we love a big cloth bum) but it can make it a bit more tricky to get under clothes.

Bumble night time
Rating:
06 August 2021  |

This is a good night time nappy, dries quickly but dried hard as we live in a hard water area. My only issue with the poppers is that we have set it on the second row of poppers but it means the top row then sticks higher up and I need to tuck it into the wrap making it bulky in the top. This is the only apprehension in buying more.

Excellent all-round performance!
Rating:
17 February 2021  |

Started using these at around 3.5 months and they fitted my average-sized baby well (nappy nippa easy to use as and helpful for fitting!) - easily as well as some sized nappies I also tried, so I don’t feel like the BTP design has meant any compromise on fit for us. Quicker drying than the other 100% bamboo nappies in our stash but still super absorbent, and the built-in fleece lining means no faffing around with separate fleece or paper liners - easier to grab off the washing line and speedy to put on the baby. Containment has been excellent - solid nappy contents have never even reached the wrap and we’ve never had a leak. Work very well paired with the Motherease airflow wraps and not as bulky as I feared. As you can tell, I’m a big fan!

Great nappy system
Rating:
11 January 2021  |

Bumbles were recommended by Nappy Lady after filling the questionnaire before my girl was born. At that time I decided to go for Little Lambs instead but I wish I went for the Bumbles now. My baby girl is not big but is chubby and the Little Lambs size 2 started to be small when approaching 1st year. I see now how well designed Bumble nappy is. It can be made up really small for a new born baby and it looks very comfortable on my now 16 months old. It is very soft on the inside and it is very absorbent. I use them during the day and I add an extra booster for the night time, with a Motherease Airflow wrap. They dry in less then 24 hours on the drying rack with dehumidifier indoors ( it is winter now) , which I think is excellent time. They are made of nice cotton towel on the outside and soft fleece on the inside. I use a Little Lambs washable liner, too.
I agree with other reviewers that the poppers are sometimes a bit hard to fasten. It is not a problem for me but it could be a bit difficult for a granny.
To sum up, Nappy Lady was right with her recommendation and the nappies are wonderful.
Nappy Lady’s service is excellent and I felt well looked after.

Bumble nappies are our favorite

Love these nappies

These are a great, fuss free, economical and really effective nappy! We started using bumbles on our 4 week old baby when we were finding muslin nappies were getting soaked through very quickly. The bumbles are easy to use, contain explosive poos and are pretty absorbent even without their insert. I found that the newborn setting was not actually all that bulky and so far standard clothes are fitting over the bum just fine. We use with airflow wraps and the combination is very easy to use and completely bombproof! Currently still alternating with boosted muslins at 7 weeks/ 12lbs but I’ve ordered more so that we can use bumbles full time.

Best we have (used for 9 months so far)

I wanted to wait until our daughter was being weaned before posting a review so I could take about the pre- and post-weaning situation.

These were recommended by the nappy lady, I bought a load, and at first wasn't too sure. I think though I just started using them a bit early, maybe I should have waited till the 12 week mark before starting with them. They did fine before then, but they were just massive on her little bum.

Anyway, I now love them; they are my go-to nappy, a real work horse nappy, very versatile, super reliable. They can be used as made with the bumble insert for an easy, quick drying day time nappy. They can be boosted so much with loads of different boosters I've picked up along the way for a night time nappy. Boosters can be placed on the outside, in the stay dry pocket, or next to baby's skin - very flexible. Great for long car journeys etc.

Absolutely bomb proof. I think I assumed all nappies did as well as this but having now tried a couple others, they do not! No poo leaks at all, baby was EBF then weaned from 6 months. No wee leaks (actually, except a couple times early on, but we learned quickly - you have to tuck in the fleece liner, and then make sure all absorbent parts are tucked inside the wrap). Now she's weaning I use an additional liner to catch what needs catching, and it otherwise works just the same.

It washes easily, can be air dried inside, on radiators, line dried, tumble dried. Seems robust after we have used all these options. The terry cotton fabric does go hard eventually (like a towel would) if dried in the air, but, firstly the fleece liner stays soft so that makes no difference to our daughter, and secondly if I dry in the drier the cotton just fluffs back up again.

I expect to carry on using these for as long as we can, they are my favourite. I didn't like the Motherease wraps for these, I use Blueberry Capri wraps instead.

Good All Rounder
Rating:
19 July 2019  |

These nappies have worked really well for us so far!

We started using them at 3 weeks old and baby is now 4 months and we haven't had a leak.

They are rather bulky but if you don't mind a big cloth bum and buying clothes a size bigger then this isn't a problem.

We live in a hard water area so the nappies can become a bit stiff and crispy if you dry them in the sun all the time, but they fluff'en up again after being tumble dried and / or being left out in the rain for a bit.

We find a nappy nippa really useful to get a good fit when the popper's are not quite in the right place.

Overall these nappies have worked a treat for us and we hope to keep using for the foreseeable future.

Economical, absorbent, bombproof

22 May 2019  |

I really like these nappies. containment and absorbency are excellent. I pair with a Blueberry wrap because I like poppers and the prints are lovely. At night I use a wool wrap. At 6 months I needed to start adding an extra hemp booster at night but during the day there is plenty of absorbency. The only downside is that they are bulky. Great for hip development though!

The fleece lining keeps baby's bottom completely dry even when the nappy is sodden.

If you are looking to cloth to save money, these are the nappies for you - they will last through multiple children. They are very well made and can even be washed at 80 degrees.

Reliable reusable nappy
Rating:
12 February 2019  |

Our son is now almost 11 weeks old and we've been using the bumble nappies since birth.
We have found them to be very reliable as we have not had any leaks yet despite a number of quite runny and explosive poos, which we're not sure a traditional disposable nappy would have contained.
We have been using Motherease wraps for the first few weeks before switching to Little Lamb. We have found both brands to be a good fit. We quickly learnt that it is very important for the wrap to be well fitted around the nappy to avoid the vest / clothes to get wet around the legs.
Our son developed some nappy rash around week two, which cleared after applying cream - using barrier or moisturising cream cream might have helped to prevent this at the time. We now allow regular nappy free time every day (10-15 minutes at every change) and apply some moisturising cream once to twice a week, which has been enough to prevent any redness or rash.

Reliable & Great Value

24 August 2018  |

I purchased 10 of these for my baby boy after being recommended them by the Nappy Lady, to use with a selection of slimmer nappies for daytime. We have used them every night from he was about 10lbs / 10 weeks, at the start with the insert that comes with them and now with an additional booster e.g. Bambinex bamboo. He is now 8 months old. I use them with motherease wraps as recommended and I don't think have ever had a leak!

The only drawback is how bulky they are, especially on smaller babies - hence why I didn't start using them until my baby was about 10 lbs. Because of this I rarely use them during the day, and when I do I usually use them without the insert (and change more frequently) or with a very slim booster instead. I think as he gets bigger from now on though they will seem less bulky for daytime.

I would love to see them slightly re-designed with a finer fabric for the taps so that they sit slimmer at the front on smaller babies (where the tabs need to overlap for a tight fit), but I guess that would increase the price!

I use them with Motherease Airflow wraps at night and the Rikki (velcro) wraps if using during the day, as these fit snug and help slim them down for going under trousers.

Overall, I would really recommend these with Motherease wraps as a good-value system from (almost) birth - potty.

Ordered these after they were recommended by the Nappy Lady and have been really happy with them. Very easy to use, especially with the nappy nippers. Will be interested to see if they do indeed last until potty as we're at 4m now and almost not tucking any nappy inside, but hopefully they will do the job!

Dry fast, quite bulky
Rating:
20 October 2017  |

These dry in about a day air drying from my experience. They fit my tall baby well. The inner fleece layer has stayed soft and also keeps them feeling dry overnight.
It is bulky when you pair it with a booster which for us is necessary, and I expect that for a night nappy- I also accept it as it is the price I pay for having a fast drying night nappy in my collection. But it is very bulky!
I use them with motherease airflow poppers. Never had a leak issue. I only have one of these in my collection, wouldn't purchase more but glad I have the one I do for the drying time.

Fabulous
Rating:
26 April 2017  |

This is a fabulous nappy recommended by the nappy lady. I bought the popper ones and started using them only after one pre-wash - without the insert, it held up to 2 hours; with the insert, it held up to 4 hours - I imagine they will hold up even longer after a few more washes. I also use them with the Little Lamb bamboo inserts which fit in nicely with the Bumbles. The Bumbles take a little while to dry though - after washing I leave them on an airer overnight and put them outdoors on the next day, which works fine to me.

It seems to me that the Bumbles are about the same length as the Little Lamb size 2 bamboo but slightly wider than the LL. My daughter is six months old (about 8 kg) and the poppers don’t give her the best fit at the moment, so I secure the nappies with nappi nippas just like the nappy lady has suggested in her video - the fit is absolutely perfect, and therefore the Bumbles actually feel less bulkier than the Little Lamb.

The more often I use the Bumbles the more I like them. I’m not a big fan of velcro, and the poppers sometimes don’t give the best fit, so I really appreciate that you can use nappi nippas on them.

Disappointed

27 April 2016  |

We couldn't get the sizing to work for us. It felt like there wasn't enough absorbancy if it wasn't in the newborn setting (popped in), but the biggest setting with booster was far too big and bulky - even more than our terry squares, so we're used to bulky. It's a shame as it was fantastic for holding in poos, but leaked for pee!

Bombproof nappies- my go to nighttime choice
Rating:
23 March 2016  |

I love these nappies and have recently come back to The Nappy Lady for some more. They are my bombproof night time nappies which I find very absorbant (I add an extra booster now that my one year old is drinking more and sleeping 12 hours). I have both the popper and nippa version but use nappi nippas with both styles for a snug fit. Over the top I use a mother ease airflow wrap. They are bulky when boosted but so is any nighttime nappy and actually I find it quite cute looking and can feel confident that my LO won't wake early due to leaks. It is also fast drying and the inner fleece lined part remains soft (we are in a medium hard water area). All in all I can't fault these fantastic nappies!

Too small for toddler
Rating:
29 February 2016  |

Bought this nappy to replace our long used little lambs after the velcro was wearing. My son is a slightly larger than average 20 month old and the nappy was a tight fit to start with. After a few washes the fastenings were really strained and tended to un-pop at night, leading to leaks. With two boosters they do last 12 hours with a motherease airflow wrap, so they'd be great for a smaller baby.

A great nappy, very easy to use. We use it as a night time nappy with an extra booster and it holds a lot of wee! We also use it as an easy option when we go out (we use terry flats at home).

The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that our baby is 3 months old, but at over 8kg is on 99th centile for length, 98th for weight, and the nappy already looks almost small on him - I very much doubt it'll last him to potty age :-/

10 October 2015  |

My little boy is one next week and I purchased a bundle of 20 nappies with poppers before he was born. These are the only reusables I have ever bought. With the bundle I also got 6 wraps (2 small, 2 medium and 2 large), 3 nappy nippers, 20 reusable cloths and a nappy bin.

I was aware that I would likely not be able to use the nappies on a newborn as they'd be a bit bulky and started using them on my son when he reached over 10lbs. Even then they did look ridiculously large at first but I've never felt they hindered his movement and he is crawling and toddling all over the place at the moment. My son is on the larger side (91st centile for height and weight) and he now uses them with the large wraps which I sometimes feel I could do with 2 more of as if his nappy gets very wet or dirty then it l need to wash the wrap and wait for it to dry. I tend to alternate wraps so 1 dries one day whilst he wears the other. The nappies do occasionally leak as the wraps use poppers and so as my son grows the same settings do not always provide an exact fit however I do not feel that leak anymore frequently then disposables which occasionally leak as well.

In my experience the absorbency of a reusable nappy is not the same as a disposable nappy (I'm comparing to sainsburys, boots, aldi and Lidl's own brands as they're the only ones I've tried) although I do not use the inserts provided as I feel they make the nappy to bulky. I use the bumble nappies during the day and 1 reusable at night which still saves us a ton of money. I change my sons nappy every two hours during the day although he can now go longer if he is napping or out of the house. However he has only been able to go this long recently and up until about 8 months his nappy would need changing every 1-2hours and he could not go more than 2 hours in the bumble nappies without getting uncomfortable. For this reason I would use disposals when going out of the house or when anticipating a nap as the feeling of wetness would wake him.

We also use disposables if we go on holiday, this is for convenience (not having to wash them!).

My son has never got sore using these nappies although I do apply barrier cream once a day or if so see any redness.

I use the nappy bin to store old nappies during the day. I fill it up with fresh water every morning and add a capful of scented fabric conditioner which stops them from smelling. I throughly hand wash any dirty nappies (which is not a job for the faint of heart! ) and soak them in a bowl of bleach. On average I have to wash out one dirty nappy a day. After soaking in bleach for an hour or so I rinse the dirty nappies and also place them in the nappy bin. I usually run a wash every two days anyway and so I but the nappies in with my normal wash. They usually take a day or so to dry (I hand them on an airer inside our flat as we have no garden). The inside of them (the part that touches the skin has remained nice and soft). I only very occasionally run out of clean nappies.

I used to use the nappies with the nappy nippers which I have found easy to use to get a perfect fit. However recently my son has become very active and will not lay down to have his nappy put on and so I have to do it standing instead. Putting the nappy on standing only seems possible using the poppers and so this is what I do at the moment. Changing his nappy does not take long, it is maybe only slightly longer than changing a disposable.

My son is almost on the biggest popper setting at the moment and so to get the nappy to continue to fit I think I will need to start using the inserts to extend the length. There is a video on YouTube showing how to do this.

To sum up:

Pros of these nappies are:
•Saves money in the long run;
•Inside material stays soft and they do not seem to agitate baby's skin.

Cons (all of which probable hold true for all disposable nappies):
•Absorbency can be an issue and so they need frequent changing;
•Dirty nappies need hand washing;
•Using reusables creates more laundry.

The only fault I have come across specific to these nappies is that one of the poppers fell off of one of them and also 1 or 2 have also come of the inserts too.

Easy Peasy Bumble Popper

This is one of my favourite nappies. It's really well designed, very absorbent and works well with the Rikki wrap. It's only beaten in my book by the Microfibre version, which dries more quickly. But I'd highly recommend it.

Bulky but a good nighttime nappy.

My toddler is a heavy wetter, so using one of these with the booster removed and a superbooster instead works well with an airflow wrap at night. On arrival the two nappies ordered each had popper fastening faults. The Nappy Lady was quick to replace them and I can't fault her service. I would suggest checking your bumbles poppers on receiving them.

Easy to use

I bought the nippa fastening bumble and find it very easy to use. It fits well and it is easy to add extra absorbency when required. It also washes and dries very well. Unfortunately it still isn't quite enough for my son, who wakes up with a soaking wet nappy after 8-10 hours even with the pop-in booster, a separate cotton booster inside and a folded bamboo booster between the nappy and the wrap. It should be an easy nappy for long car journeys.

perfect night time nappy

I use them at night with an additional booster and never had any leaks!
They are bulky, but at night it doesn't matter.
However not all pyjamas fit over the bulk!

EXCELLENT night-time nappy

I use a variety of reusale nappies and find this is the best nighttime one. It is VERY bulky on a newborn which I struggled with initially, especially fitting clothes over the top (vest extenders and nappi nippas definitely helped!) but the absorbency more than compensates for this!

An excellent recommendation by the nappy lady

These are my favourite nappies, Lots of room for growth, big pouch to stuff as needed at night, I use the booster which is included plus a microfibre booster for night, my baby is still waking dyring the nights so once she sleeps through plan to cut one of my rerries up and use that for boosting. I use the nippa version and the fit is perfect. Have bought more to use during the say as they are so brilliant, and bomb proof!

Love these nappies

We love these nappies!!!!
Didnt think my husband would embrace reuseable nappies but he has surprised me and also loves using them.
We use the popper version and they seem to work very well, have nappy nippas on standby for alternative fit if required at some stage.
Feel very economical when using compared to disposable. Tend to use them most when just at home, baby is 3 months we have used them for about 6 weeks with her, did go out in one yesterday and found it fine.
No leakage and wash very well. Trust the nappy lady for advice on numbers you'll need she is spot on!

Great night nappy

18 June 2014  |

I was initially a bit wary of a nippa fastening nappy (the version we bought after advice from the Nappy Lady) but this is the best night nappy we own. The nippa fastening means it is completely adjustable, and the fleece inner layer is really lovely and soft. Together with the wrap we've had no leaks at all yet (and we've been using these overnight for about 6 weeks). Our boy is extremely long and slim for his age and we've found these to be the best fit for him. At the moment he's in the nappy for about 12-13hours a night and it's soaked when it comes off him in the morning but, as I said, no leaks as it seems to be very absorbent and no nappy rash or discomfort for the boy either. All in all, very happy!

Great economical stash builder

This is my husbands favorite nappy. This is a great stash builder that is easily boosted to suit your child's needs. Using a nippa makes the sizing very adjustable. Our girl is little so we like being able to adjust the size to suit. Not the fanciest of nappies but does the job well.

A decent nappy
Rating:
18 April 2014  |

Bought these for our tall boy and they work fine in the day. We can't use them as successfully at night as we get a bit of gapping, I think because he is big on the legs and slimmer around the tummy, which is where the gap is. There is the option of using nappy nippas instead but I find it easier just to use these as a daytime nappy. Absorbency is good, drying time is not as fast as our other nappies (teddies) but we are a bit spoilt with them as they are so fast to dry.

I've been using reusable nappies for a few years now and for a cotton shaped nappy with a very heavy wetter I was so surprised at how well this nappy works! It's soft and if it gets a little hard just throw it in the tumble for ten mins fluffs it up again. It's so much less bulky compared to little lamb fitted nappy and works best with a nippa.the fact you can adjust this nappy to exactly the size you like is very very clever I love it and will be ordering more to share between my 22 month old who's 3stone and very tall and the newborn god willing thank you!

Not great for heavy wetters

15 January 2014  |

I bought a bumble to try with my 10 week old daughter, but unfortunately they are not absorbant enough for her. She seemed to soak straight through it within an hour which is not ideal.

Response:

Bumbles ARE designed for heavy wetters but you MUST use a wrap over the top of the nappy as the bumble is a two part system. It is normal for the urine to go through to the outer layer of the bumble nappy (not the wrap just the inner nappy part). The nappy is taking the wee away from baby so leaving them dry. This doesn't mean it's at capacity it will still have plenty of absorbency left in it and the nappy is just working as it's designed to do. The wrap over the top wills top any wetness reaching babies clothes. The bumble is fully fleece lined so will keep baby feeling dry as well. The bumble has a huge absorbency and is suitable for day or night time. At night time it can be used for 12hours with additional boosters. Wendy

White poppers on a white nappy?!
Rating:
31 December 2013  |

This nappy is ok, it does it's job so I've got no problem with it. However, have you tried to put a white nappy on a baby who is trying to turn over every 3 seconds and pop poppers that are white?!!! It's a nightmare! I've ended up using a nappy nippa (which you can do) but shouldn't really have to do that when it's poppers. Why are the poppers invisible on this nappy?!

Big & ugly but effective

Big & very absorbent for nighttime use. Needs to sit on top of a radiator to dry overnight. The outer cotton is not soft after repeated washings, but the fleecy inner is still nice. Weird poppers, it was easier to use a nappy nipper.

Too big for new born
Rating:
07 October 2013  |

At 2 months old, our baby girl only just started fitting the bumbles (she was 7 pounds and 49cm) - so not quite accurate when they say from birth on.

She does fit them now, but during the day we don't put them on, since they are so bulky she can't move her legs!

That being said, they last all through the night, especially with the aid of a booster or two. Containment is great.

They do take forever to dry. Online it said not to put them in the drier but on the line they don't dry within 2 days so if you're washing every other day that's not going to cut it. We dried them at high heat and they seem fine!

Our baby girl does love them, she sleeps much better in these than the disposable ones.

Response:

These are large bulky nappies (which is why they have such high absorbency). I used bumbles on all three of mine from 7lbs at night. However at this weight it's best to use a nappi nippa to get the smallest fit. It's fine to tumble dry the cotton bumbles on high, if you have the bamboo version (called a bambeasy) this can only be tumbledried on low due to the delicate bamboo fabric.

Being bulky nappies they will fully support babies hips so don't expect free movement of the hips on a newborn but this is actually good for the baby (see our blog article on hip positioning and cloth nappies). If a baby is born with clicky hips (hip dysplasia) the bumble is one of the nappy that we often recommend to help support the hips properly. Wendy The Nappy Lady

Brilliant Buy

As recent converts to cloth nappies, we love these! Once you get the hang of what size to adjust them to they are very simple to use, nice and absorbent and wash up well. Good quality too - we bought some second hand to try them out, and then topped up our supply with new ones from The Nappy Lady. A few weeks later I can't tell the difference between the new ones and the second hand ones.
These nappies are a revelation for us, this is my third baby and after a bad experience trying pre-folds on my second (hopeless), I thought cloth nappies weren't for me. The Bumbles have changed my mind!

Really don't like these nappies.
Rating:
12 August 2013  |

I bought these nappies for my tall but slim two-year-old to wear at night, but really don't like them as they have made her inner thighs really sore. Whilst they are long enough for her, and with an extra booster are absorbent enough they take far too long to dry, and when dried on the line go really hard. But worst of all the seam where to the fabrics join tends to rub on the top of her inner thigh so badly that I only used them for three nights as her skin got so bad. I had to use dreaded disposables until the sore patches had healed then tried the Bumbles again to check if they were the cause, and it happened again. Also, the poppers come undone during the night. She is long, but slim and they're not too tight on her but the seam is the problem. I'm no longer using them so they were a complete waste of money. Using disposables until I have the funds to try another brand. This isn't a reflection of the Nappy Lady's service, always prompt and very helpful.

Sorry to hear you didn't get on with the bumbles as they are an excellent night time nappy. For a skinny baby the fit is much better if you use a nappi nippa, this is used on the nappy around the poppers (instead of using the poppers). This will keep a secure fit at the waist and the legs.

I bought these to use as nighttime nappies but have since stopped after too many leaks. Very very bulky too. Not the nappy for us unfortunately.

The bumble is a fantastic night time nappy but you do need to use additional boosters. The Motherease wraps are best and if you're using several boosters for a heavy wetter going up a size and using the Motherease airflow is the best choice. Wendy

Easy peasy nappies!

These are indeed easy peasy nappies. At first glance they may seem a bit complicated with the various settings but they're really not. I love the fact that they are so adaptable. I have the popper ones but in fact always just use a nappy nippa and we haven't had one leak whereas on the two nights recently when we had to use disposables over night, we had leaks on both nights and had to do a full bed change each night. Even my husband (who doesn't like two part systems) admits that they're great.

I bought these as an alternative to our flat terries for night time (bleary eyed late night nappy changes do not make for a well folded nappy!), and also as a 'interim' nappy to train the other half and grandparents from disposables to full flat terries. The bumble is easy to use and the removable booster allows for quicker drying and good adjustment for a growing baby. The full fleece lining makes for a comfy cosy nappy.

Great night time nappy with an extra booster
Rating:
19 June 2013  |

They do make baby's bum massive so you need vest extenders or the next vest size up, but we love these and have not had one leak in the night since using them. No more pyjama and sleeping bag changes at 4am! As the nappy lady says though, with the popper fastening the placement of the poppers is not always ideal on a small baby but the nappy nipples really help - you need to make sure you pull the corners of the front of the nappy right up underneath the fastening and then nappy nip into place. Otherwise the corners can pop out as the nappy gets wet and expands, which in turn can affect the positioning of the Rikki wrap so that the sharp bit of the Rikki's velcro rubs sometimes on baby's tummy if you're not careful. Easily avoided though now you know how! I would definitely recommend this nappy for night time use, using an additional booster.
