Firstly I was quite surprised to see that I was required to wash the nappy 8 times before it reached optimum absorbency. I would hope the manufacturers could build that into the production process. I washed mine 5 times but was keen to get started. The first try it leaked within 45 minutes of wearing, pretty frustrating as we were about to leave the house and it required a full change. I will persevere with washing and hope the absorbency improves but for now I’m pretty deflated about my first experience of using a reusable nappy.

I thought that as these nappies were more on the expensive side that they would be a great alternative to disposables. Unfortunately they leak around the legs unless you get the fit just right, they do not keep babies bottom dry and they are not slim fitting (which I hoped they would be)!

This is a great nappy. We love the gentle stretch which makes it easy to fit. It does take a while to dry but we find it really absorbent.

This has now become my favourite nappy, great fit and can last up to 4h on my 6m old. Wish I’d invested in more while it was in sale

I ordered this nappy along with another brand following the recommendation given by the nappy lady to give them a try before I committed to going cloth and unfortunately I've been really disappointed with the performance. I pre washed them 4 or 5 times and the first few times I used them I was getting leaks but I put this down to them still not being up to full absorbancy but now a month or so on I'm still getting leaks through to my little boys clothes after less than 2 hours. The other brand I tried (blueberry) has been much more successful, they have separate inserts which seem to work better for the amount my little one is wetting. All in all I wouldn't recommend this nappy if your baby is a heavy wetter and I'm very glad I only ordered two of them to try so I haven't wasted too much money.

Good absorbency, slim diaper 07 October 2020 | Valerija
Very pleased with this nappy as it is really small on the bum, and it can last long for an AIO. I usually change after 3 hours, and it didn't leak yet.

I ordered 3 of these nappies based on the reviews and wish I hadn't. They are the worst I have tried which is a shame as they are lovely and soft, look fab and are nice and slim, however they fail to perform their basic function. They have been washed around 7 or 8 times now and still can't contain even a small wee. Very disappointed as I had high hopes.

Very impressed! Slim, easy and absorbent 06 June 2020 | Sarah
I find this nappy very easy to fit and really slim, especially between the legs. It is very absorbent and we haven't had any leaks, even with only a couple of prewashes. Really impressed and I would definitely buy again.

Lovely first experience of an AIO 27 May 2020 | Charlie
I love this nappy. We usually use 2 parters so I was sceptical about containment and absorbency but I'm really impressed. I only have 3 AIO's and this is the only one where the inner is one long booster which means it dries much quicker than the ME Uno and the Little Love bums which I have. Beautiful prints too.

The slimmest nappy we have but not easiest to fit 18 May 2020 | Catrin
This nappy is definitely the slimmest fit and also most generous fit. We have 5 brands and these are the only ones that fit our chunky nearly 3 year old, also the only ones he says are comfy (he’s not used to cloth - i was just testing on him to see how long will fit his baby brother). They look almost like underwear but the long and thin soaker really is very thirsty. I was sent some photos and tips from the nappy lady team after slight trouble with getting a good fit on my baby and these solved the problem so if i take a bit more care i no longer have the problem of slight leaks on the legs. If it was only ever going to be me changing my baby i would have a full stash of these because i like how they look, however I’m pretty sure my husband and my parents would struggle to get the proper fit especially on a wriggly toddler, so I’ve got little love bums for them to use which are more fool proof.

They do take a while to get to their full absorbency, but all the waiting is worth it and I prefer the 3.1 to the dream 2.0. My go-to to make sure we have no leaks or poo explosions - the perfect fit on my little one and plenty of growing room too with very generous sizing.

I love these nappies. Bought one to try and then bought 4 more to top up my stash. They fit really well and are super slim, and seem to dry faster than some other all in ones. Fantastic containment, although I only prewashed about 4 times. Prints are gorgeous. I use them for out and about (use terries at home as they dry best in the washer) and knowing that these smart bottoms are so reliable is great - no having to pack multiple changes of clothes!

Beautiful nappy, worth the prep time 02 February 2020 | Hanna
We love our smartbottoms, and when I saw the video with the story behind the little wings print I knew I had to have it. We’d only ever had preloved smart bottoms before this so we knew the fit and absorbency was great particularly for something so slim. What I had realised but not fully taken on board was the amount of time it takes to prep, and that is the only reason this has 4 stars not 5. Not a terrible problem, I’m just not particularly patient and wanted to use it straight away...

I find these nappies pretty easy to fit and there are some lovely prints (always a bonus). They last my average wetter about 2.5 hours which isn't bad (but not as good as some other brands, and considering the price this is one of my reasons for deducting a star). I've unfortunately had to return my favourite print after only a couple of months use as it was unexplainably leaking around the legs and failed the tea towel test. My only other issue is that some nappies are better stitched than others. I'd probably only buy another of these nappies if a print I couldn't resist came out, otherwise, I think there are better nappies on the market in this price range.

3rd baby in cloth and she's now 7 months. Switching from little lamb 2 parters. I've previously used close pop in, miosolos and little lamb pockets from 6 months with other 2 babies.
I LOVE how easy these are; off bum and into dry pail without sorting velcro, out the machine and onto airer next to dehumidifier and they are dry overnight. No need for stuffing, boosting etc just straight on the bum again. Once up to absorbency and fit figured out I've had no leaks, no sock marks even so I imagine they are very comfy. Worth looking at smartbottoms website for info re pre-washes. Containment of weaning poo has been 100%. Really slim fit and love both block colours and patterns. So so so so glad I invested!

Contrary to most people I can't say I like this nappy. I bought one just to try it because I'm looking for AIO fo nursery. Absorbency at the beginning is awful. I put it on my child after 3 washes and there was a massive leak (only time ever I have had to change the bedding of the cot for a wee leak). After this I washed it 10 times aprox before using it. At least now it can be used but I can't say I'm impressed by it's performance, it never lasts more than 3.5 h. Fitting is a bit fiddly also

Slim fitting and absorbent 21 September 2019 | Sheila
I tried these as I struggled to get hold of Motherease on the advice that they are similar. I was happy enough and despite advice that they need a good few washes to be absorbent, I washed mine twice and they were good to go lasting 2-3 hours. I am not up to 10 washes and they are good for solid 4 hours on some days. No leaks.

Smart Bottoms 3.1 aio are my all time favourite nappies. They are trim but very absorbent, the fit is great on both small and big babies, the prints are gorgeous and they don’t take too long to dry like some other aios. Very recommendable!

My absolute favourite nappies. These fit so nicely and have much more growing room for my baby than any of the other reusable nappies I have (he is 1yo and 75th centile) - not even on the top rise! They are the slimmest nappies we have and they look great. The quality is excellent. I pre-washed twice and have found the nappy to be very absorbent. I will buy more but might have to wait till I am back at work - they are not cheap (although comparable to others). Love them!

I so want to love these nappies as they look great and they require so much pre washing I want them to make it worthwhile! I’m sure once my boy is the perfect shape/size for them they will be great. However we have had a lot of poo and wee leaks using it as getting a snug fit around the legs is difficult as they are a very long nappy. It’s getting better as he gets bigger but I do wonder when he slims down as he starts walking etc whether they will fit snugly enough. A bit of a faff to ensure the elastics aren’t rolled in - make sure after washing you take the time to flatten the elastic down for drying. I never used the newborn version but certainly for the 3.1 I would recommend waiting until your baby is bigger and more likely to fit this larger nappy. Prints are amazing though and it feels like a high quality nappy.

Reliable nappy but an unforgiving fit 07 July 2019 | Heather
I really like these nappies but I find that the fit has to be absolutely perfect or I get leaks, and the tongue is a bit fiddly with my wriggly baby! Once fully prepped and you've mastered the fit, the nappy is super reliable. The sizing is generous and they suit my tall babies. I like that I can fold the tongue to get extra absorbancy where I need it. There is also room for me to add a thin hemp booster. The prints are amazing which is a bonus! I do think they need more than the recommended pre washes to reach a good level of absorbancy so that's something to consider, but they are a great nappy and worth the extra prepping.

I bought the Smart Bottoms Dream Diaper, and this one to compare the two. I really love this one, but it loses a star for the number of pre-washes that it needs to reach full absorbency. And don't think if you're buying a few you can prewash them all together, you need to do it gradually with towels and things like that to absorb the oils. Once pre-washed it's absolutely brilliant, although I have found slightly less absorbent than the dream diaper. But the dream takes yonks to dry! I have two Bumgenius Elementals as well, which are another favourite, but these are much easier to dry because the insert isn't attached at both ends. I have found I prefer inserts that are attached, over ones you snap in with poppers, because it's sometimes a faff to find the right insert. I was hesitating over buying more because they're a big investment, but I love them so much and like the lady above seem to be 'saving them' as though for an emergency, so I've decided to top up my stash with a few more so that every change is as much of a pleasure!

I quite like this nappy and the patterns but I must admit I prefer the Blueberry Simplex as they have been more reliable for us. I’ve had a couple of leaks with the 3:1 and I think it’s because your baby really needs to be a few months old before you can really use these (mine was only 10 weeks old when we first used these). Still a good nappy though!

Fits TNL description: slim, absorbant, and rather quick to dry compared to a Bumgenius Elemental for example. I am not a huge fan of the tongue which I find hard to place on a wriggly baby, but still one of the best nappies on the market atm.

Smart bottoms 3.1 for the win! 02 May 2019 | Leila
Having bought three I started using one with the intention of selling on / returning the other two if I didn’t get along with the style. However it quickly became a hit - not only the awesome pattern (enchanted) which is saved for special occasions (you know - gold wee?!) but the nappy itself. We use these alongside BG elementals of all versions, miosolos, a few pockets, and some two partners.
These are by far and away my favourite. Nice and slim, malleable and therefore easy to put on, with great containment. I was SO excited to use them I even thought I’d risk it without a prewash - and wee squirted our the side! Ha! That’s my lesson learnt... following the first prewash we’ve had no leaks so that one was definitely my bad! Once the old elementals have lost their waterproof, I’ll be stocking up with a few more smart bottoms!

I love these nappies. I missed out on buying more unos so purchased these instead. And what a great move. They do take a few washes to reach full absorbency but are well worth it. They are trim, slim and cute. I love being able to fold the tongue depending on where you need more absorption. They stay soft in hard water. We haven’t had a single leak (once they’ve been washed several times) and are easy to fit. They are now very thirsty. My unos have now been pushed to the back of my draw!
