Ellas House Bumhuggers have come back to The Nappy Lady.  With the arrival of bamboo fabric, traditional hemp nappies fell out of fashion for a number of year but demand for this super absorbent natural fabric is back higher than ever.  Bumhuggers are super absorbent, soft and snuggly, just what your little one needs to settle in to that long slumber (or perhaps a very long journey)

The nappy is made entirely from hemp/cotton fleece (55% hemp/45% cotton) for incredible absorbency! There is a pull out soaker to make the nappy quicker drying however the Bumhugger is still a very slow drying nappy.  The soaker can be  extended to the full length of the nappy or folded at the front for boys if requird.   The entire inside layer that is next to babies skin is covered in 100% polyester fleece.  Liquid soaks through the polyesteter into the hemp/cotton fleece on the outside while the polyester stays almost dry to the touch.

You must use a waterproof cover over the top we recommend Motherease Airflow or Wool wraps.

For a really heavy wetter you can put a hemp booster in between the nappy and the wrap.

Small 6-15lbs (3-7kgs)

Absolutely excellent

This nappy is amazing at night. I am finding hemp is superior to other materials for my heavy-wetter 7 month old boy. Love that the fleece liner is inbuilt and covers the whole nappy. Have bought more and also highly recommend the Ellaís House Bum Boosters.

Great cosy night nappy
Sunday, 15 November 2020  |

These fit my slim 18 month old well. They have a nice fleece lining which is handy, but I still use a separate fleece liner to prevent stains. The insert pulls out to dry, but it's quite a narrow hole to push it back into. The poppers I found came undone quite easily, they are a little shallow. Apart from that I'm pleased, Nd they work well with an airflow or wool pants.

Stay dry shaped nappy
Tuesday, 3 November 2020  |

This nappy is quite a bit harder to put on than our bamboozle stretchies because of the shape and having poppers rather than velcro, BUT I still love it because it's the only shaped nappy I found with a full stay-dry layer on the inside so we don't have to change it during the night. That makes it well worth the extra few minutes at bedtime. We use it with Little Lamb wraps (our Totsbot Peenut wraps don't fit).

Does the job and lovely soft inside
Sunday, 6 September 2020  |

This nappy does the job and itís sooooooo soft inside (unlike say a little lamb or a bamboozle) so you could forgo the liner (if youíre brave or your childís done their poo quota for the day). The main material is...different...Iím not sure Iím 100% convinced. Itís tougher than bamboo, a bit like canvas to the touch but it seems to do the job. Even with a booster I still prefer a little lamb because itís not quite as absorbent and itís slimmness doesnít lend it to stuffing a massive booster in! It does fit well though (although youíll probably want a pull up style wrap like a wool or an anavy because of the fluted sides) and looks like itíll last a good while.

Good night nappy would recommend using a Bamboo booster as well as or instead of the hemp boosters as otherwise it leaked. Gold fit for our very chubby boy.

I've been on my nappy journey for 6 months now and finding the right ones is hard so I'm so relieved I finally nailed it with the night nappy. Paired with a little lamb cover this is absorbent and very slim fitting.

Super absorbent reliable night nappy
Thursday, 9 July 2020  |

These are so absorbent! Perfect for a heavy wetter to guarantee a leak free night. I fold the insert at the front for extra absorbency and also squeeze an extra booster inside the nappy to provide extra absorbency. I really like that this then means we have just the one piece of nappy to do up, with no extra boosters loose on top which makes for easier changes. Poppers are also great for ensuring it stays on. The pocket is very narrow so a bit awkward but I can live with that. Overall a great nappy with super absorbency!

Dry bum and no leaks
Wednesday, 10 June 2020  |

I just used the bumhugger for the first time overnight and im very happy. My girl was soaking through disposables so i made a switch and im happy. 11h sleep and no leaks. The fleece lining kept the bum dry. The only downside is being hemp it has a long drying time so you need quite a few or as a part of a bigger range of nighttime nappies

Fantastic option, especially at night
Wednesday, 27 May 2020  |

I absolutely love the bumhugger. It is a soft fleece lined hemp nappy which has great absorbency. It has an attached insert that can be folded to provide absorbency in the front.
My only niggle is the pocket area to stuff the insert down is quite small and I struggle to get my hand in to stuff the insert the full length of the nappy.
This is such a minor issue though as the nappy is top notch for what we need, which is an extremely absorbent nighttime option. I even used this alone as a night nappy (+ wrap) to see if it'd last and it did. This was on a 14 month baby that still feeds 2-3 times throughout the night!

Excellent absorbancy
Monday, 11 May 2020  |

Holds an amazing amount of wee and is still dry to the touch inside! My 6 month old still feeds all through the night and is a really heavy wetter, but bumhuggers hold everything easily and he is still comfy thanks to the fleece lining.
I had to go up a size in wraps as the nappy is very high fitting with long sides but it fits my long simba by nicely and he seems to like that it's not bulky between his legs.
I'd have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the poppers aren't very "tight" and it's easy for him to undo the nappy as I'm trying to put it on.
They dry in a day out on the line, 2 days inside on an airer, but I tend to give them a quick go in the tumble dryer now and again just to soften them up as the hemp gets a bit stiff.

Bumhuggers are the best for overnight, no leaks and I love the fleece lining so need need for an additional liner. My only MINOR niggle is I have an older style one as well and they came with pretty fleece lining which I liked but also, the new style seams a touch narrower so little harder to tuck the insert in.

Bulky at lower weight range
Thursday, 23 April 2020  |

Bought this to try. Have only used during the day so far. It seems very absorbent but very bulky at the moment at the lower weight range. There are no poppers to shorten the rise and I find there is a lot of material around the elastics at the moment which leave quite deep looking sock marks. Iím going to try using it again in the future

We bought these as night nappies to use alongside our tots bots bamboozles. Although theyíre good and seem to dry quicker than the tots bots, we donít seem to be able to get as long out of them. Hoping theyíll come into their own as he gets older (only 4.5 months currently)

Very soft
Friday, 3 January 2020  |

I bought these for my slim 6 yo to replace the nappies he had outgrown. I was a little worried that they wouldn't fit him when they arrived, but they do, although on the middle setting. He does have a very slim waist though!
The rise is elasticated which gives a good fit and gives him room. I really like the softness of these nappies - the fleece layer sewn in is a great idea. I have been impressed by the hemp booster, although I still boost with two triple bamboo as he is such a heavy wetter. They dry much quicker than I was expecting, I assume because you can pull out the insert, and quicker than my other night nappies.

I'm very pleased with this nappy. It's super absorbent, my 14 mo is a heavy wetter and this keeps her going all through the night. Plus the fleece liner means that she is dry where I find most other night time nappies end up with her being very wet in the morning. It is very chunky but I expected that.

Lots of pros and cons
Wednesday, 13 November 2019  |

This is my favourite night time nappy but itís not without its downsides. Weíll start with what I love: theyíre amazingly absorbent! For a while i was able to use these on their own, but I boost now just in case. I find them slim for the absorbency they offer, I like that they can go through the tumble drier which keeps them lovely and soft, but they only take a day on the line through the summer. Not like my bamboo that can take 2-3 days! The inside is fully lined with fleece and it keeps baby lovely and dry all night. The cons: my 7mo has outgrown the large size at just 9kgs (noting the weight range for the large is 7-15kgs). They are long nappies, we just about get a large airflow wrap over the nappy, Iíd be worried how Iíd cover an XL if I sized up. The nappy is extremely narrow cut, thatís great when there is no pocket with an insert attached to the nappy which needs stuffing. I thought Iíd get off lightly because I have tiny hands, but nope, I use the pinch and pull method on the fleece to manipulate the insert through the length of the nappy. The ruffles on the legs look cute, but that, coupled with the extremely narrow cut nappy means any soiling canít possibly be contained for those occasional first thing in the morning poops. despite the cons, itís still my favourite night time nappy. My baby is on the 91st centile for weight and carries most of her chunk in her torso and not her thighs so these are contributing factors, we are in the minority, but still sizing seems to be a common complaint.

Lovely and soft
Monday, 11 November 2019  |

So I haven't actually used these yet - I tried on my 1 year old and it looks a bit big at the moment so will have to wait and see. First impressions - lovely and soft! From other reviews I know they are very absorbant. My only big bear is trying to get the tongue back into the pocket. I've pre washed 3 times to Maximise absorbancy but putting the tongue back in is a massive pain, it's a very narrow opening and get difficult to get it to lie flat inside without fiddling on for quite a while. This is one reason why I can't stand pocket nappies. However I only have two of these so I can live with it!! Apparently kitchen tongs can work well so I might invest in some as I don't own any.

I prefer nappies with poppers and this is great. It is soft on the crotch and very absorbent. I use this as a nighttime nappy and it lasts all night with no leaks. It dries quicker than my other bamboo nappies. I donít have a tumble drier, but this nappy doesnít really lose its softness from being lined dry. Iím just not sure how much longer this will last on my 19month old, sheís already on the 1st row of poppers, but I may be proved wrong!

Super nappy but sizing challenging!
Wednesday, 28 August 2019  |

My toddler is just on the weight for XL so that is what l bought but he would have been better off with the large as nappy isn't tight enough around his skinny legs. I also found that the Petit Lulu Pull up wrap XL doesn't fit over it properly as the nappy is too long. On the plus side, it's super soft and very absorbent!

Good Night Nappy
Wednesday, 21 August 2019  |

Bought this one for night time. It is quite bulky so needs a large wrap. I had also bought a blueberry capri wrap and smart bottom wrap but neither is quite big enough to cover the bumhugger easily. So you basically need an airflow! Luckily I had two already since it's impossible to get hold of one now. Bit of shame. The bumhugger and airflow combo is excellent though. Never any issues for the whole 12 hours overnight. It is a bulky nappy and the bumhugger looks fluffy and tired quite quickly after washing only a few times. If your baby is a heavy wetter I'd say this is the one you need but for my average wetter baby(!) I think I prefer the Bambinex.

Great nappy
Friday, 31 May 2019  |

I bought one to try after the size 2 bamboozle was getting a bit on the small size. The fit is lovely and my toddler is on the middle waist size so I think itíll lasts for a while. The inside is very soft so even in my hard water area it is still nice. I tend to use it as a daytime nappy when doing long car journeys rather than overnight, the absorbency has been great. It *just* fits a large airflow but Iíve bought an XL one which fits much better.

Loving the bum hugger
Thursday, 2 May 2019  |

I bought this to try at night over another bamboozle stretch as I have motherese wizard Uno's and was worried about the velcro affects on them. I also bought the next size up for my baby which he was two lb smaller than the recommended size. It fit fine first time and I live it. It's super soft on his bum, easy to put on and self ejects in the was so no need to stick you hand in a pee filled nappy to get the insert out. I am seriously considering getting another one when my bamboozle gets too small. I would definitely recommend this nappy.

Absorbent but very bulky
Tuesday, 9 April 2019  |

I bought this to avoid Velcro fastening alternatives. Itís super absorbent but incredibly bulky and because the fit isnít as snug as a Velcro fastening one it causes some chafing around the waist band. I prefer Tots Bots Bamboozles (despite their Velcro fastening) and will be using those from now on.

I love these for night time or a long journey! And the fleece lining is soft and keeps our boy dry. I use a Motherease airflow wrap with these for night time as the front is deep and our flips wraps donít cover it. Drying time is going to be about a day and half near the radiator but thatís just the norm for hemp!

Lovely nappy but difficult to stuff
Saturday, 16 March 2019  |

I thought this would be my favourite when it arrived and it would be if it wasn't so tricky t o replace the insert. The nappy has a lovely soft feel and the small fits my 4 week old girl beautifully. It also dries faster than the bamboos I have. I do find it frustratingly tricky to get the insert in place as the nappy is narrow and so the insert always feels bunched up in the pocket, hence the 4 stars.

Excellent night nappy!
Wednesday, 26 September 2018  |

This is a fantastic night nappy. I bought the large for my three year old who isnít quite toilet trained at night. It fits well, is super absorbent and dries quickly. The fleece lining means itís comfortable without having to add a separate liner. The pocket is quite narrow but there is space for additional boosting should it be needed. Weíve found that on the loosest settings it can also be used as a pull up which is a huge plus for toilet training. Itís not too bulky, which is unusual for an absorbent night nappy. My toddler calls it his Ďcomfy night nappyí. I would definitely recommend it.

Absorbent, but....
Tuesday, 11 September 2018  |

These nappies hit the mark on absorbency! The only nappies that get my child through the night. However, the nappies do shrink after multiple washings and my child "grew" out of them before hitting the upper weight limit.

(Also, the Large size does not fit 15-40lbs but 15-33lbs -- clearly noted on the Ella's House packaging. I have requested that the sizing on this website be corrected, but it is still listed above as 15-40lbs. So buyer be warned.)

Best night nappy I've tried
Friday, 29 June 2018  |

This is hands down the best night nappy I've tried so far. Lasts my 28 month old the whole night (10 to 11 hours) when boosted with a thin bamboo booster, which is great considering he has a cup of milk before bed and usually wakes for a cup of water half way through the night. Not had a leak yet, and most nights nappy is still dry in places. Dries quicker than I expected considering the level of absorbancy it offers. Fits great under a Motherease Airflow Wrap. Definitely recommend this nappy for night times! Also it isn't too bulky and I find my son sleeps better when wearing this when it's hot than some of his other nappies
