Close Pop In Nappy Overview

The Pop-In nappy is a unique hybrid nappy system; a cross between an all-in-one nappy and a two-part system. The inner soaker poppers inside the outer shell so that it comes apart for easy washing and drying and cleverly goes back together again ready to simply fasten around your baby.

Close Pop-In nappy is officially an ‘all in two’ nappy whereby you just change the inner pad at nappy change however practically we find most families use it as an "all in one", where you simply change the whole nappy each time.  We sell the inner pads separately so if you did want to use it as an all in two or even just replace the inners for a second child it's perfectly simple to do this.

Close do make separate night time inserts however we find this nappy struggles overnight other than for light wetters.  We would continue to recommend you use a two part system such as a Bamboozle and Motherease wrap overnight.

Sizing

The Pop In nappy grows with your baby from 7lbs to 35lbs (3.18kg - 16kg)

As with all ‘birth to potty’ or ‘onesize’ nappies, there is a compromise on fit at the lower end of the weight range so the nappy will be quite bulky initially on a small newborn. If you want to use cloth nappies straight from birth you could use the newborn sized Pop-Ins, until baby reaches around 10-12lbs and fits nicely into the Onesize.

The Close Pop-In nappies do have shorter nappy tabs than some other brands so if you have a chunky monkey they can struggle at the top end of the weight range for toddlers.

How do I use it?

Being an all in one nappy there is no stuffing required as the absorbency is attached inside. It is a great no-fuss option as it needs no prepping, folding or stuffing. The waist fit is adjusted through Velcro stretchy tabs and each nappy has an elasticated back.

The length of the nappy is adjusted using poppers on the front to make the nappy smaller while baby needs the nappy in a shorter length.

Close Parent Pop In nappies have a double elasticated leg gusset to help improve containment.

If you are new to reusable nappies and need some guidance on change frequency read our article how often to change nappies.

Good for on the go
Rating:

We bought these as loved the Close pop-in newborn kit. Has a liner and booster with each wrap, which is a bit fiddly to have to clip in both, and the bottom liner doesn't seem quite wide enough so I think an explosive poo would easily get onto the wrap. The wrap itself contains very well but there is a fleecey section to the bottom of this and I find this is wet with every nappy so it's rare I can just replace the liners/booster and re-use the wrap. However lovely prints, and made up in advance, they're really useful on the go. I have a few second hand pooper ones which seem to fit really snuggly but my preference is Velcro for a closer fit. I wouldn't use these at night but they are useful for the day.

Excellent products but since the UK is no longer in the EU I had to pay more upon home delivery. What a shame!

Never had a single leak!
Rating:
20 September 2021  |

These nappies seemed to be my daughters favourite nappy to poo in, and never once did they leak anything out of them. They were completely bomb proof.
Was sad to pack them away ready for next baby, but as our daughter is 98th centile we found that it was too tight on the waist at around 6months (popper version)

The prints are fantastic and we loved the extra booster too which we used for naps to add a bit more absorbency.

Good nappy for nursery
Rating:
20 September 2021  |

These are good nappies - I bought for nursery in velcro as they were having difficulty with the poppers on our Unos. My son is small to average 18 months.
Pros: Containment similar to Unos with no leaks so far (to my knowledge). Foolproof for nursery. The way the velcro tabs store away for washing is reliable enough for me to confidently wash in the same load as the Unos.
Cons: They are a faff to put together for each use. They are (initially) not colourfast so beware when prewashing with other nappies / whites. Although slimline they are definitely more bulky than Unos. For us there seems to be an issue with bunching of the liner and nappy so a big poo will often breach the liner and somehow get on not only the gusset but also the booster and waterproof shell, which is not ideal in terms of cleanup time.
Overall however I would recommend these nappies as good value for high reliability, especially if on offer.

Beautiful, easy to use nappy

17 December 2020  |

I have to confess I first bought a Close Pop to try as I loved their prints. We’ve been using the nappy for about 3 weeks now and so far I’ve been impressed with its performance. My LO has put it to the test and the double gusset keeps and elasticated top kept everything contained and is a neat fit around my little boy. The soaker and boaster that it comes with lasts us a good few hours, while giving what feels like a slim fit (we also use Baba and Boo pocket nappies). I agree with other comments that the velcro tabs are short, but it does make it more dad proof! I find it take a bit more time to assemble (compared to our pockets) as I detach everything before washing. The laundry tabs are also a bit fiddly as you have to thread the Velcro through a slot in the back but they do work really well (no tangled nappies so far!) I also like that there’s four setting on the rise popper so I feel like we can get a good fit. We’re fairly new to cloth and this has been a good edition for us.

Easy to use
Rating:
05 October 2020  |

Easy to use two in one nappy. The adjustable poppers enable a good fit and I like that this can adjust with my child as they grow.
The soaker liner is very absorbent but as a result takes longer to dry. At times I can change just the soaker/booster rather than the whole nappy every time and this makes it more cost effective. The outer is quick drying. I have only had a couple of leaks since using these nappies over the last month which compared to the disposable I was using is a big difference. I also like the cute bright patterns.

We love these nappies. They fit my 5 month old and my 3 year old so truly btp. The speakers are fantastic for something so thin; they last over 5 hours. I love the prints and how soft the covers are too.

Easy to use nappy
Rating:
09 July 2020  |

I have found this nappy super easy to use. The single line of poppers make for quick and easy changes when out and about or in a rush. The double gusset helps ensure a good fit. I like that the booster can be folded at the front for extra absorbency in this area. It dries fairly quickly due to the removable inserts. It is fairly small compared to other nappies I’ve tried particular on the width which is not a problem for my skinny boy but may not suit chunkier babies. I have found these surprisingly absorbent even on my heavy wetter we get 3 hours. I would recommend having some of these nappies for the ease of use, for changing in a hurry, or if you need some nappies for others who are less experienced in changing cloth to use.

Excellent all in one nappy
Rating:
12 August 2019  |

If I could give half star ratings I would have given a 4.5 stars instead of 4. I think it is a really good nappy, the only drawback for me is that the nappy tabs are a bit short, so I'm not sure my baby will use them until potty. Having said this, the absorbency is very good, it contains explosions really well and I never have leaks (I'm referring to the bamboo ones, the microfibre ones are less absorbent).
If you buy it keep on mind that, as with other bamboo nappies, they take time to dry. The soaker and booster need to be attached and separated every time you wash them, some people find this a bit annoying because it's extra time preparing the nappy but it's not a problem for me.

Bombproof nappy, excellent containment and absorbency

These nappies are one of my favourites. They are not the slimmest but are very reliable and the prints are sooo cute. I never had any leaks even with explosive breastfeeding poos. The velcro makes it easier for other carers to use. Although some say that it’s on the smaller size, it fits my chubby 7 month old and still has plenty of room for him to grow.

Totally disagree with the containment rating here. These are by far the most leak proof nappies that I have in my stash. They fit my tall and not super chubby girl beautifully.

bad fit for tall baby
Rating:
22 April 2019  |

My boy is tall and chubby (16lbs at 3.5 months) the tabs are too short so he hasn't got much growing room and the rise has to be on the last set of poppers and he still seems uncomfortable in them, they do offer good containment and absorbency but only if your baby is not a tall chubby one like mine

Amazing containment
Rating:
26 January 2019  |

On the plus side, I’ve been using these nappies for a couple of weeks now and have found them excellent at containment, with no wicking or poo leaks - so much so, that I never need the booster. It helps that the double gusset gives a really tight fit around the leg, even on my slim 4 month old.
On the downside, they are a little bulky; you have to take the nappy apart to wash, meaning that you can’t avoid touching the wet inners; it takes about 30 secs per nappy to put back together after a wash, which can add up if washing several nappies; and they take a while to dry.
I’d definitely recommend these as part of your stash - particularly for days where you can’t risk leaks - but maybe supplement with some simpler, faster drying nappies.

Good nappy just not for us
Rating:
23 July 2018  |

I wanted to love this nappy for the print alone. However, we found it quite fiddly compared to what we are used to. I'm used to a pocket nappy where everything is tucked smoothly away. This just felt more fiddly to get it smoothed down before putting on. Feels quality made and no leaks. Continue to use but not my favourite

I have a wide range of nappies but Pop-Ins are my absolute favourite. The inserts are super absorbent, have double gussets on the legs making them extra secure. They fit both my skinny legged twin and chunky legged twin perfectly. It also helps that the prints are often adorable!

Gorgeous new prints

These are amongst my favourite nappies, and we have quite a few different ones in our stash. These never ever leak. This was my first bamboo version of this nappy, and although they take a while to dry, I’m thoroughly pleased. The new prints are totally adorable too. My only reservation is the short aplix tabs - I have a very chunky second baby and I’m not sure how long they will fit him for.

These are my favourite type of nappy. They are the least bulky, and most leak-resistant nappy I have found to date (and I have tried a lot!). The service was very good and the nappies arrived within 24 hours of placing the order. I am a very happy mum and my baby is very happy too!

These are excellent nappies they really worked well for us. Very absorbent and reliable, took a bit of time to get the hang of the fit but as her thighs have got fatter it fits well. The bamboo insert takes around 24 hours to dry.

This nappy is one of my favourite brands and styles ever! I have tried a lot and these and the tots bots stars are by far the best. Very very absorbent, never leaked! My old issue is that they are very bulky, but all cloth nappies are! And I'm sure as my little bean gets bigger they will look a bit more normal.

An absorbent nappy that is easy to use with good containment. As the inner soakers can be separated drying time is good. They are reliable and we haven't had any leaks. The leg elastics occasionally leave marks but if put on carefully this can be minimised. Because they are aplix fastening and go on in one piece they are husband friendly too.

I like the snowball colours and love the co ordinating liners. Popper make everything stay in place really well.

Although I like these they are far too big for my 11lb son and they are really bulky as a result. They would suit him from about 5 months I think. I can't really comment further as we haven't used them enough due to them being too big.

I have kept them and will re try them in the future
