Flip Training Pants By Bumgenius

Flip Training Pants by Bumgenius are our best selling trainer pants as they are so versatile. Initially they look incredibly expensive but once you understand they are effectively 3 pairs in 1 they are on a par with other trainer pants but with far more benefits.  These will be ideal for a child starting to potty train who isn't quite reliable enough for the Bright Bots trainer pants.

Each set comes with 1 waterproof cover and 3 individual inserts so is effectively 3 pairs in one. When the child has an accident you just take out the organic cotton pad and replace with a new clean dry pad.  You can also buy more inserts separately if 3 isn't enough.   The cotton pads will keep the child feeling the wetness which helps them learn and hopefully speed up potty training.

The trainer pants fit 20-55lbs so they fit way beyond the age most children need them making them very cost effective compared to keep buying bigger sizes as the child grows.

The flip trainer pants have stretchy sides so the child can pull them down and pull them up themselves when they need to go to the toilet but if they have a poo accident you can lay the child down and unpopper the side panels so you can change them lying down which is much quicker and cleaner than having to pull pooey pants down their legs.

 Key features are:

  • Adjustable, stretch-to-fit waist bands with snaps
  • Form fitting elastic Prevents leakage
  • Pull-on or snap-off
  • Waterproof shell
  • Fold pad down to size, extra in back for girl, front for boy
  • Secure organic cotton pad in shell with hook & loop strips

Very leak proof! Bit snug on my little one but we are mostly having to use 2 inserts as she's only just started training - much better with 1 insert. Love the patterns, as does she!

Disappointment
Tuesday, 13 December 2016  |

I have been using reusable nappies for 2 years with no problems. These are very expensive and have poor absorbing for my toddler who is needing pants. Large amount of leakage so I was disappointed considering the cost. I would recommend that people look for other options when toilet training.

Response:

Sorry to hear you didn't get on with the trainer pants. It must be remembered that these are trainer pants and not nappies so if they aren't giving you enough absorbency then your child isn't ready for potty training yet. You can use the flip trainer pants with all three inserts at one time but this is only really done at night time. If this isn't enough night time absorbency then you should look at nappies rather than trainer pants. The motherease bedwetter are great for night time for older children or look at bamboozle stretchy with a a motherease airflow cover for a younger/smaller child.

Potty training pants
Saturday, 30 July 2016  |

My little girl isn't quite ready to potty train yet, but as she's big she's nearly outgrown her Charlie Banana nappies, so I thought I'd try one of these. They are pricey, no doubt about it, but so well designed I don't grudge it. Elastic sides makes pulling them on effortless, but poppers mean no smearing. Only thing I'd note is, they are a spot on fit on the largest size, my girl is less than 2 1/2. So they may be worth trying on larger children before pre-washing

Potty training
Tuesday, 31 May 2016  |

We have found these training pants excellent for potty training our 21 month old son. He is able to wear them at nursery and they are absorbent enough to hold a full wee, which prevents lots of changes of clothes. He prefers to wear pants and we think that the sense of him being wet has helped him learn more about when he is going to the toilet as sometimes when we are unable to respond in time there is a small accident rather than a full size wee. The nappies are also good at holding poo although this does mean a change of insert and outer. Friends have used these with more absorbent inserts for their children who are at an earlier stage or not yet potty training.

Potty training genius

I hesitated initially with these due to cost, but now I wish I'd bought them straight away, really can't fault them. My two year old is wanting to try and use the potty and toilet but not quite reliable enough for pants. These were just perfect he can pull them up and down like pants but if we are out and about and can't get to a loo in time or are stuck in the car they easily hold a full wee without leaks! Great product well worth the cost.

Excellent product. Great service

I preferred these to the motherease because of the side poppers and neat fit. The motherease didn't work for my very tall but narrow waisted baby boy. So far these have been great for potty training.

Reasonable option for night training older toddler
Friday, 16 October 2015  |

I have a lean 3.5 year old with a little bum, but who is the height of a 4 year old. He is now refusing to wear nappies at night, even though he still sometimes wets and sometimes doesn't. I tried bringing out the old Bumgenius V4s and he was willing, but they were just a bit too small/low rise. These training pants are definitely big enough, although they leak about half the time. I suspect I could improve things by changing the poppering. They pull up and down fine when we take him for a sleep-wee at about 11pm.

I actually got hold of a a few of the shells on their own because I have so many old boosters. I use two pads; 1 Bumgenius BTP V.4, with a cheapie eBay bamboo booster slightly folded over the top so the poppers on the Bumgenius aren't against his skin, and also the fluffiness of the bamboo booster sticks well enough to the velcro. Once I sort out the poppers I think it will work okay.

Disappointing design and leaks every night
Wednesday, 30 September 2015  |

I have a large 3 year old and he's a mid to heavy wetter.

We have to use 3 pads inside our wrap. The wrap isn't wide enough for this set up. It should be wider / deeper generally to allow for this. Also to allow for one pad to be folded over for boys rather than use 3, use one flat and one folded.

We have tried every way possible including poppering the wrap down to the point of showing the top of my little boys bum crack, but still this leaks every night. I'm bored of every day soaking and washing an entire set of bedding and pyjamas when this expensive nappy / training set up is meant to prevent this. The backs of the pads are left dry but due to bad design of the wrap the wee doesn't even get a chance to wet at the back

Also the poppers on the elastic parts are so close to the edge of the cloth that I've poppered my little boys skin twice now.

For a wrap that's meant to me for a huge child they certainly need to make these elastic parts wider with another set of poppers as there's nothing 'pull up' about it! We have to take the whole nappy off as we can't pull it up or down in the slightest.

I feel gutted. I've bought 2 sets to have the extra wrap (as the wrap gets so smelly) and 3 packs of 3 X extra pads which has cost around 100 I think. This is to go through 2 kids eventually. Never have I been tempted to use disposables and I'm changing to these now. After 3 years of cloth nappying. What a let down and what a waste of money?

Flip Training Pants
Tuesday, 4 August 2015  |

We bought these as a step between nappies and "normal" training pant for our daughter. And on the no leak side of things they are great for both wet and poo. However they are quite awkward getting on as pull ups and would benefit from having a third size option on the waste band thing. Also if you're using them as pull ups and have it sized on one of the smaller sizes sometimes the buttons actually come open again from the pulling up motion. However they are easy to get off with very little mess so that's a plus.

Because they are very leak proof I'd recommend them, but because of the awkwardness of getting them on and the less then perfect sizing options. They don't get more then a 3.

I love these pants now have 4 - only because I love the designs and my Lo does too. I only really need 2 because the inserts Velcro in so u can keep same pants on all day and if no #2 accidents I just Hand wash or stick in on quick wash and wash inserts with the cloth nappies!

'Travelling pants'
Wednesday, 3 September 2014  |

We have used this in combination with the bright bots pants. We have one of these for longer car journeys or trips when we won't be near a toilet. They're possibly a bit too similar looking to our nappies to make our 2 year old feel like she's wearing big girl knickers but they're a good half way house.

We use them for night time only
Tuesday, 8 April 2014  |

It took a while to figure it out how to 'assemble' these pants, as we've never used pocket type nappies before. My husband still puts the pants back to front sometimes! (I assume front panel has lots of poppers?) It's quite bulky if you use 3 inserts, but that's ok for night time. It leaks slightly once a week or so. But 'wet PJ bottom' incidents made my daughter rushing to the toilet first thing in the morning these days, so her pants are dry quite often. We hope the other twin daughter would do the same soon. We bought 4 pairs for twin girls. Please could you make a demo video for this training pants. Thank you.

Another piece of genius...
Saturday, 30 March 2013  |

...from Bumgenius! These really are brilliant, perfect for the early stages of potty training - there is nothing else out there quite like them. Little one loves them because they pull on like pants, and I like the snaps for rapid removal! Excellent containment of both types of accident, little one learns about feeling wet without needing to change their trousers too when the inevitable happens. I recommend getting some extra liners - you will need plenty to begin with, and preferably 2 wraps in case of poo incidents! Although on the face of it these seem pricey, I think they are excellent value because you get three changes with each pack and they are the usual bumgenius high quality, so will surely last for multiple kids. For info, I put the liners (which say 40) in with my usual 60 nappy wash and they came out fine. Oh, and they won't be very absorbent till you wash them.
