Hire Kit Availability

We have over 100 hire kits across our hire kit ranges however demand is incredibly high.  Our hire kits receive bookings often 8 months in advance.  At the time of writing in November 2022 some of our kits are approaching being fully booked for March 2023! To guarantee your kit of choice is available for your hire period you should aim to order by 20 weeks pregnancy.

We understand it can make parents nervous buying anything before your 12 or 20 week scan. Please be reassured if for any reason you need to cancel your hire kit BEFORE it is dispatched it will be cancelled and refunded in FULL.   Once hire kits are dispatched (approx 4-6 weeks before your due date) the hire fee will not be refunded in part or in full in any circumstances other than in cases in stillbirth/SIDS.

Hire Kits are only available for hire in the UK.

Staydry Sandys Hire Kit Costs

The STAYDRYSandys hire kits cost:
85* hire fee + £100 deposit

On the return of the nappies the £100 deposit can either be refunded or used against a future order.
*IF you spend over £150 on other items with us you will also received an additional £30 credit from your hire fee.

Staydry Sandys Hire Kit Contents:

The Nappy Lady STAYDRY Sandys XS Hire Kit contains:

  • 20 Sandys DRY XS. This should allow you to wash every day and half to two days from birth.
  • 5 XS/Small Wraps

This is enough for one baby full time.

If you have Twins you should need to book 2 kits, they don't have to be the same type of kit.  At time of booking add details on your order that you have two kits for twins so we can confirm the most appropriate date to book for you and we'll arrange for a 10% refund on your hire kit.

You'll also need to buy:

  • Paper Liners if you'd like to use them. (Bambinex liners fit the best.)
  • Nappy Bucket/Nappy Mesh to store the used ones in.

Even with buying these additional items the cost of using the Sandys will work out less than you'd spend on disposables!

Sizing & Fabric

The STAYDRY Sandys XS  newborn nappies are ideal for the early weeks when standard size 1 or Onesize nappies just seem a bit too big on a tiny newborn. The nappies are made of cotton which provides fantastic fast and secure absorbency with an average drying speed. The Staydry Sandys are lined with the Mother-ease Staydry fabric which helps to keep baby feeling dry. An exclusive high tech super absorbent hypoallergenic 100% polyester fabric. They can also be tumbled dried if needed. Being a two part system you will get excellent containment.

STAYDRY Sandys XS officially fit from 6-12lbs . At a RRP price of £12.99 per nappy this makes buying STAYDRY Sandys XS a luxury most people can't justify for a nappy that will only last a few months.  However i think everybody should have the option of using newborn nappies which is why we offer a hire service.  They are more absrobent than muslins and require no folding. Motherease is a well know and trusted brand sold by The Nappy lady for over 22 years so you're getting a quality nappy The STAYDRY Sandys secure with poppers at the side.   They are shaped nappies so they offer excellent containment and no folding required.

Extending The Hire Kit Period

Your hire kit period is for 3 calendar months from babies birth. If you need to extend your kit beyond 3 calendar months we will try to accomodate this depending on the hire date of the family after you but this can't be promised. If the hire kit is able to be extended this is an additional £20per calendar month. If the kit is returned late the extension fee will be automatically applied.

Care & Consideration

The STAYDRY Sandys Hire Kit will probably not be brand new but will be in a good, clean, sanitised and hygenic condition, washed at every return by The Nappy Lady.

We expect that returned STAYDRY Sandys will have been used and washed according to our guidelines but not damaged. We do expect some wear and tear of course. On the return of the nappies please do not worry if they are stained as this is common with newborn/breastfed poo. Stains are easily removed by drying them on the line (or even a window ledge) in the sun for a day or two. If any nappies are returned beyond use, the deposit or part of it may not be refunded to cover the cost of a replacement nappy.

Once hire kits are dispatched the hire fee will not be refunded in part or full in any circumstances other than in cases in stillbirth/SIDS. The deposit will be refunded in full on safe return of the hire kit.

Mother-ease Care Guide

Initial Wash

  • Add no more than 10-12 nappies to your washer & dryer in each initial wash. Remember to check your lint screen before each wash & dry.
  • Set your washing machine to a full wash cycle with a large size load for 10-12 nappies (smaller if less nappies). Use only HOT water.
  • Add your detergent - see detergent disclaimer.
  • Line dry or machine dry the diapers on a medium heat setting.

Regular washing

  • Be sure to wash your cloth nappies at least every other day. If the soiled nappies are stored longer, run them through the initial rinse cycle and toss back into your nappy pail. (Tip - you can add 1/2 oz of laundry detergent to the rinse cycle to start cleaning sooner.)
  • Use your washing machines normal wash cycle and set the water temperature to hot. Use a large load size (for 12-18 soiled nappies + covers) and add the detergent manufacturers recommended amount of detergent. Then let the machine take care of the rest!  (Tip - running the diapers through an extra rinse creates unnecessary wear and over the 2 1/2 years of use, you will reduce the longevity of your diapers). (Tip 2 - Select your washing machines Sanitary Cycle for even hotter water if you can.)
  • Once your nappies have finished the wash cycle, it's time to dry them. You can either line or machine dry them;

Line Drying - hang to dry in your basement or outside on the line. (Tip - Sun naturally removes stains. Even works on a cold, winters day as long as the sun is out

Machine Drying - Toss in your dryer on medium heat (low for covers). (Tip - Tossing line dried diapers into your dryer for a short cycle will fluff them up but tumbling action adds additional wear)

*Coloured diapers may bleed and should be washed accordingly

Mother-ease Warranty

Mother-ease offers a lifetime warranty on our Snaps and Elastics.
This warranty is for the reasonable lifetime of the diaper. This does not cover slight relaxing of elastics.

Mother-ease offers a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on our:
Sandys,  Fitted Diapers, One Size Fitted Diapers, Wizard Duo Inserts, Reusable Nursing Pads, Baby Wipes, Absorbent Liners and Wizard Boosters.

This covers product stitching, seams and fabric holes discovered immediately upon receipt of item. This does not include normal wear and tear, slight variances in snap placement, odour issues, pilling, leaks, staining, repelling and holes or tears in the fabric or loose stitching due to wash routine or regular use.

Mother-ease offers a 6-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on our:
Diaper covers, Wizard Uno's, Big Kid Training Pants and Bedwetter Pants.

This covers product stitching, seams, holes discovered upon arrival, and irregular deformity. This does not cover staining, fading, slight variances in snap placement, leaks, pilling, holes or tears in fabric or loose stitching that develop due to wash routine or regular use (items caught, torn or melted in the washer/dryer).

This warranty is available only to the original purchaser from the date of purchase.

All warranty is null and void when products containing harsh solvents such as hydrogen peroxide (oxygen bleach), sodium percarbonate or optical brighteners are used.

When washing your covers Mother-ease recommend you wash them in a mesh bag to keep them away from Velcro on your nappies and from getting caught in washing machine doors.  Always secure the Velcro on your wraps so they don't stick to the binding in the wash.
Please contact us if you think you have a faulty product and need to claim under the Mother-ease warranty. We will liaise with Mother-ease for you. Mother-ease will require any product to be returned or destroyed before a replacement.

The manufacturer may ask for proof of which detergent you have been using during the period you've had the item so we strongly recommend you keep your receipts you can prove you've been washing following the supplier's guidelines.  A photo of the detergent box and a photo of the detergent ingredients will be needed plus receipts of detergent purchases in the time you have owned the faulty nappies (usually 1 or 2 receipts showing purchases across the previous 6 months).  If you have bought Mother-ease's detergent through us during the time you've used the nappies please let us know and we'll have all your receipts already on record for you.

Mother-ease decision on any warranty claim is final.

Great intro to reusable nappies
21 May 2024  |

I wanted to use reusable nappies, but felt overwhelmed by all the different options. I decided last minute to get this hire kit a few weeks before my baby was born. So glad I did! We started using the kit as soon as her umbilical cord dropped off. (She was quite small and the nappies came a bit high on her to be able to keep her cord out). The sandys nappies and airflow wraps are so easy to use and wash. I wasn't so keen on the velcro wraps included, the ones with poppers seemed more comfortable for baby - but good to be able to test them out before buying my own. The stay dry lining was really soft, so I was glad I chose this option over the regular sandys. We had loads of leaks using disposables at first, but hardly any as soon as we started using the kit.

We got on well with the two part system so it was an easy decision to invest in something similar after I returned the kit. It has given me confidence to carry on with reusables. Instructions and communication around the kit was great too. Thank you nappy lady!

Perfect for Newborns
21 February 2024  |

My little one was born 3 kg and we've used these nappies since birth. It's a very simple system to use and they dry relatively quickly. The only time we've had leaks or blow outs when we hadn't done the nappies up tight enough.
We've also been using through the night with the stay dry booster.
Excellent kit!

Excellent for newborns
17 June 2022  |

These nappies meant we had no blow ups up the back, and were easy to fit and wash. Really do recommend hiring these. Be prepared to run a wash every other day but otherwise it's pretty easy.
