Bright Bots Trainer Pants Overview

Bright Bots Trainer Pants are pull up cotton terry pants in a Y-front design, in a variety of colours and are designed to minimise little accidents. They are our best selling washable training pants.

Bright Bots Training Pants are perfect for the child who is basically dry but maybe prone to leaving the toilet dash to the last possible moment (or beyond!).

Bright Bots Washable Pants save lots of changes of outer clothes while also allowing the child to feel wet which helps with the potty training process far better than the stay dry lining of disposable pull ups or disposable training pants.

A Bright Bots training pant looks really smart and most children love them, even when they no longer need to wear them. As such, they are a big incentive to toilet train.

How they work

In Bright Bots trainer pants the centre portion has an extra layer of cotton terry towelling to give absorbency. This central area also has a waterproof PUL lining, hidden inside the cotton terry gusset in the gusset.

Bright Bots trainer pants have been designed to stop a flood if "caught short", they will not hold a full wee or withstand being sat on when wet. However, they will prevent trousers etc getting wet, if an accident happens on the way to the toilet.

If you find your child is not quite ready for them, they can be worn with your existing waterproof wrap or pant over the top, to protect furniture and carpets.

Sizing

Sizings on the Bright Bots are a little vague if in doubt go up a size.

So far so good!

I bought a size large for my 14 month old boy...very glad I took the decision to size up, as, I don’t think he’s particularly chunky (although no frame of reference because, you know, #lockdown) but he does have quite muscly thighs.
Anyhow, I’ve worked out that they fit quite well if, once on as high as possible, you tuck the leg elastic up into the leg crease, like you would with some styles of cloth nappy. This does however mean, I don’t think he’d be able to pull them up himself.
We’ve had one small leak, but he was sat in his pram at the time, for a fair amount of time.
I would say they do hold a full wee though, if just generally milling about, ie not sat down!

Very pleased with them so far (plus really nice colours)

Great for a nearly dry toddler
Rating:
22 November 2020  |

We used these for night time. They don't absorb that much but enough to keep a nearly dry toddler completely dry.
Hindsight I should have gone for extra large (my little one is 3yrs old) and could do with a little bigger.
I would buy this product again ❤

Terrible
Rating:
28 May 2020  |

These fit nicely but consistently leak at every use (i got the largest size for my recently turned 3 yr old). They somehow smell terrible after wearing, like a heavily weed on nappy x10. And given they constantly soak through and the outer fabric gets wet, they cause a rash at every use. (I did prewash, without fabric conditioner, to maximise soakage). Not worth a penny to me unfortunately.

Good product but a little tight
Rating:
18 May 2020  |

My son is a small fit on his waist but very tall. They fit him with plenty of room length ways but they are a little tight on the legs and tummy but no so much so that he complains or they leave marks.

I assumed these would prevent leaks from coming through to his trousers but that isn't the case. They are cotton with a Terry cloth insert and whilst poo doesn't escape the sides wee comes straight threw on the occasions he had an accident.

Good if you catch the wee quickly
Rating:
20 September 2017  |

My 14 month old definitely prefers these to nappies, but she's still learning to tell me she needs a wee/has done one so I don't often let her wear them. As has been said, they don't withstand being sat on and we have carpets... Good for outdoors in summer though and we'll get them out more once she communicates more reliably. I went by the waist measurements for fit and that worked nicely.

No good for overnight
Rating:
06 June 2017  |

I bought these to use overnight for occasional accidents instead of nappies. They did the job of appearing like pants to him and therefore being accepted (he will not wear nappies). They're also comfortable and easy enough for him to pull up and down.

But, the wee seeps straight out if he has an accident in bed.

I think they might just about catch a very small daytime wee but we've not tried them for that.

Service from nappy lady was excellent.

yes these are NOT suitable for night times unless you put a separate waterproof layer over the top. These are designed for the last minute dash to the toilet. For nights for LIGHT wetters try the totsbots trainer pants.

Great pants, great price
Rating:
13 September 2016  |

I bought these for my 2 year old as she was generally doing well at potty training but occasionally didn't quite make it to the potty in time so I thought these would save on lots of clothes changes or be useful when out and about. They do exactly what I hoped they would and catch a small dribble if needed (they wouldn't hold a full wee though!). My little girl is petite, although over 2 she is only in 18-24m clothes (but only for the length, she'd get away with 12-18m in the waist!) and the large is snug around her waist and legs so probably wouldn't suit a chunkier child. They are very good, but I've given 4 stars instead of 5 just for the sizing.

Lovely Pants
Rating:
14 June 2016  |

These pants are great for when you're out with potty training toddlers who tend to leak a little bit before making it to the toilet. Don't expect them to hold an entire wee for any great length of time though. It's just for a bit of extra security at times. The reason I have given 4 stars is because you have to wash them at 20 degrees which is a bit annoying when is usually wash at 30-40 and 60 for a nappy wash. Especially because my girl often poos her pants lately, I would rather be able to wash them at a hotter temperature.

4 stars because they lose their softness very quickly.

18 November 2015  |

I have recommended these training pants to every mummy I know. They are lovely quality and hold 1 wee long enough to change trousers, luckily my little boy has only had one accident in these so far but they give us confidence when out and about. They are quite small in size, I got xl for my 2.3 month old boy and they fit perfectly. The colours are bright and fun and the material is so soft, they also wash really well. Fantastic product.

Great but on the small side
Rating:
16 November 2015  |

Great training pants that are handy when going out and a few dribbled escape before you get to the toilet. However, I bought a large size for my just turned 2 year old and they are tight round the legs so she is unable to pull them up/down herself. Definitely go up a size!

Colourful, just right amount of absorbency
Rating:
25 September 2015  |

I bought 5 more pairs of these for my youngest son, in different colours, to add to my supply left over from my first son. We now have every colour of the rainbow! They are brilliant for potty training as they are proper pants in fun colours, but the towelling inner and waterproof hidden layer means they will absorb an accident enough for it not to make a puddle on the floor (unless it's a really big wee) which is great when you have carpets. They do soak through as they aren't supposed to be like disposable pull ups, but I'd say the amount of absorbency was spot on. They say to wash them cool and not to tumble dry, but I'm afraid I chuck ours in the nappy bucket to soak, wash them on 40 or 60 depending on how soiled and even tumble dry them on rainy days, and they are fine.

These trainer pants are just perfect for starting potty training. I use them at home, when I know I can bring baby to the potty every hour and he is super cute with these on. When purchasing consider that they run quite small. I took a small for my 40th percentile 8months old baby and they fitted just right. I am going to purchase a medium size soon.

Good pants
Rating:
30 July 2015  |

These are great. My boy likes wearing his pants and I can see quickly if he has an accident and they hold enough wee to avoid trouser changing. He can pull them up, down is a bit harder.
I wouldn't use them if unable to have regular toilet checks.
He's a small 2 year old so I got a mix of medium and large. One fits well the other is easier for him to pull up and down.

Large size too small and a very warm product
Rating:
09 March 2015  |

The material is soft but very warm! Would not recommend during summer. My son is 3yrs old about 14kg and I bought the large size. My son is slim built, and it's too tight at the legs. It is truly only suitable for few dribbles as it said - but for that I think it's too warm. Don't see the purpose. I bought it to try during the night in order to encourage my son to wake up if he needs to pee. Way too warm to sleep in.

Response:

The trainer pants have a waterproof layer but are fully breathable much more so than disposable trainer pants/nappies which contain plastic. These are only suitable for daytime unless little one is dry at night and it's very occassionally wakes in the night and can't reach the toilet in time. in this case put a motherease wrap over the top.

We used it a few times when we are out and about. It does hold wee and poo just enough to take you little one to the toilet to change. Sizes are a bit strange, I got large and medium and have fairly skinny 2.5 years old, both sizes fit him well, but it does look like medium size gives him an itch, may be it is a bit too tight. Pants are quite thick so it is fine in a colder weather, I am it sure if they are going to be as comfortable in the summer.

I have these to potty train my 25 month with, I do find I still get puddles even if changed immediately but this is possibly because she drinks loads! However my 12 month old has awful nappy rash at the moment and I've been using these on him to catch the wee. As they do smaller wees at this age I'm not getting any puddles (but am changing immediately) but find its airing his rash with minimal risk to my furnishings! He is a big 12 month old (98th centile height, 75th centile weight) but the large ones are fitting him just fine!

These have been great for late stage potty training, when you need a bit more reassurance that accidents will be minimised. Contrary to some comments they held most wees, and did hold a poo when she got caught short. Feel like 'real' pants, so good confidence boost too. Much better than pull up nappies!
