Airflow Wrap Overview

Mother-ease Airflow is a Unique design wrap that is leak proof but refuses to compromise on breathability

An advantage of the Air flow nappy covers is that the side-positioning of the poppers gives it a tamper proof fit and makes it virtually childproof! The trouble with Velcro-fastenings, as with disposable nappies, is that your child can easily undo them - and the tougher the Velcro, the more tempting it is for them. You can almost hear them saying “Look, Mummy, a toy on my tummy...” Not all children are manic un-fasteners, but if you have one of those, you’ll find the popper Air flow wraps a far less frustrating option, unless you want your child to wear dungarees on a permanent basis!

As the poppers are at the side of the wrap it is perfect for children with sensitive skin as there is no velcro to catch or snag on. For tummy sleepers there are no poppers at the front of the nappy to press into their skin either!

If you prefer Velcro fastening wraps have a look at the sister wrap the Mother-ease Rikki wrap.

Why is the Motherease Airflow Wrap so good?

The gap between the popper closures increases airflow through the nappy which helps to regulate the temperature inside the nappy. Many families are initially worried that the Air flow will leak due to the gap but there's magic in the Mother-ease airflow cover and believe me it won't leak!

There are no gussets in the wrap which makes the legs holes larger than on other wraps. The legs holes of the airflow are designed to be LOOSE and not fitted snug to the skin. This is again to make the nappy more breathable but also so little legs on the move don't get chaffed. The Airflow is especially good for chubby legs allowing them plenty of room.

It is a very baggy wrap and a roomy fit, it's design somewhat like 'Granny Pants', in comparison with Velcro-fastening wraps, and some people don’t like the “puffball” look. However, that’s one of the reasons why it is so reliable, because there is plenty of room between nappy and wrap, minimising the risk of wicking due to a bit of the nappy sticking out anywhere. That’s also one reason why it is an excellent wrap over the bulkiest of night nappies and the best wrap over traditional terry squares.

Please remember that while they look puffy they do compress down under clothes nicely.

Care of Mother-Ease Wraps

The binding on the Mother-ease wraps are the reason they are so fabulously waterproof so it's important to treat the binding with respect and make sure it can't get caught on velcro etc in the wash.

When washing your Mother-ease wraps place them in a mesh washing bag separate from anything that could catch on the binding like Velcro to keep them in excellent and reliable condition.

Mother-ease have very specific washing detergent requirements please read our washing page so you're aware of the requirements. This usually means that the wraps have to be washed separately to your nappies.

Wraps rarely need to be tumble dried as they air dry so fast however they can occassionally be tumble dried on low in an emergency.

Motherease Airflow Size Guide

The Mother-ease Airflow comes in 5 sizes but most people only need 2-3 sizes birth to potty.

  • XS 6-10lbs (trim cut)*
  • Small 8-12lbs*
  • Medium 10-20lbs
  • Large 20-35lbs
  • XL 35lbs - 45lbs
  • XXL 45lbs+

*Note that the XS/Small sizes poppers towards the front for ease of use when changing a small baby, whereas the larger sizes popper towards the back.

Fastening

The Mother-ease Airflow features adjustable poppers at both the waist and legs for a secure, tamper-proof fit. The poppers are at both sides of the wrap  and there are a number of different settings. Because of the separate leg and waist fastening, it has excellent adjustability for the child whose legs and waist are not in perfect proportion to each other. With a Velcro wrap, if your child has thin legs but a fat waist, the wrap may have to be closed too tightly at the waist to give sufficient containment at the legs, or vice versa. This is not the case with the Airflow wrap.

The Airflow is secured with adjustable poppers at the waist and legs openings and has an air ventilation system between the poppers. This allows for maximum air circulation as baby moves, reducing the risk of bacteria by keeping the temperature of the cloth nappy down. The ventilation system makes it the most breathable PUL wrap on the market by far. You think it somehow “ought” to leak, but I can assure you it doesn’t. Very cunning design.

To use with

The Motherease Air Flow Wrap is pretty much a universal wrap due to it's generous cut and can be used over virtually every modern shaped nappy.  However because there is no gusset at the legs, the Airflow is not suitable over prefolds or other fasten-free/ pad folded nappies .... normally. I have known people use it with pad folded prefolds successfully, but only on pretty solidly-built children, because they fill the wrap so much more! It certainly won’t work with your average or skinny child.

Wrap Fabric

PUL - Polyurethelaminate

The Motherease Air-Flow wrap is made of 100% soft brushed polyester with polyurethane laminate waterproof inner.

POP POP Charity Print

The Nappy Lady website is 20 years old on the 30th November 2019 and to celebrate we have worked with Mother-ease to create this beautiful special edition print.  There is a very personal story behind this nappy which I'd like to share with you.

Wendy & Pop Pop

The Pop Pop Mother-ease print has been named in memory of my Dad, affectionately known as “Pop Pop” to his three Grandchildren.  When I was a young child I heard my Dad call his Dad Pop so I repeated it as Pop Pop and it stuck forever more.  When I had my own children my Dad of course wanted to be a Pop Pop too!   Even when my eldest got older Dad told him you call me Grandad now if you want but nope it was Pop Pop forever!

Dad was a generous and hardworking man who had a lifelong passion for motorbikes. When he wasn’t at work, he was always found in his shed tinkering about with his beloved classic bikes. What Dad didn’t know about a motorbike wasn’t worth knowing. Growing up there were always people stopping by for his expert help. I had no interest in motorbikes so other than knowing what BSA stands for, I’m no help with your motorbike problems, nappy questions on the other hand I’m your lady! Dad always dreamed of running his own motorbike shop but unfortunately this never happened, so he was delighted in my development of The Nappy Lady.

Dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2014 and underwent aggressive and life changing treatment. He bravely faced each stage and he never gave up hope of a recovery. In 2017 the cancer was back and had spread. After a critical infection he was referred to his local hospice St Raphael’s and was given 48 hours to live. The care St Raphael’s gave him was faultless and for the first time in years his pain was kept under control. Those 48 hours came and went and three weeks later he was discharged. Dad remained under St Raphael’s community care for another six months until he finally lost his battle in early 2018.

Throughout his life Dad loved supporting a variety of charities and arranged fundraising events with his motorbike club.  November 2019 was The Nappy Lady’s 20th Anniversary and to celebrate we worked with Mother-ease to create our Pop Pop charity print.  £3 from every PopPop airflow wrap is donated to St Raphaels Hospice and we are working towards reaching £30,000 fund raising. Current in April 2021 we are just over halfway at £17,000. You can follow our fundraising journey at Just Giving here.

Mother-ease Care Guide

Initial Wash

  • Add no more than 10-12 nappies to your washer & dryer in each initial wash. Remember to check your lint screen before each wash & dry.
  • Set your washing machine to a full wash cycle with a large size load for 10-12 nappies (smaller if less nappies). Use only HOT water.
  • Add your detergent - see detergent disclaimer.
  • Line dry or machine dry the diapers on a medium heat setting.

Regular washing

  • Be sure to wash your cloth nappies at least every other day. If the soiled nappies are stored longer, run them through the initial rinse cycle and toss back into your nappy pail. (Tip - you can add 1/2 oz of laundry detergent to the rinse cycle to start cleaning sooner.)
  • Use your washing machines normal wash cycle and set the water temperature to hot. Use a large load size (for 12-18 soiled nappies + covers) and add the detergent manufacturers recommended amount of detergent. Then let the machine take care of the rest!  (Tip - running the diapers through an extra rinse creates unnecessary wear and over the 2 1/2 years of use, you will reduce the longevity of your diapers). (Tip 2 - Select your washing machines Sanitary Cycle for even hotter water if you can.)
  • Once your nappies have finished the wash cycle, it's time to dry them. You can either line or machine dry them;

Line Drying - hang to dry in your basement or outside on the line. (Tip - Sun naturally removes stains. Even works on a cold, winters day as long as the sun is out

Machine Drying - Toss in your dryer on medium heat (low for covers). (Tip - Tossing line dried diapers into your dryer for a short cycle will fluff them up but tumbling action adds additional wear)

*Coloured diapers may bleed and should be washed accordingly

Mother-ease Warranty

Mother ease offers a lifetime warranty on our Snaps and Elastics.
This warranty is for the reasonable lifetime of the diaper. This does not cover slight relaxing of elastics.

Sandys,  Fitted Diapers, One Size Fitted Diapers, Wizard Duo Inserts, Reusable Nursing Pads, Baby Wipes, Absorbent Liners and Wizard Boosters.

This covers product stitching, seams and fabric holes discovered immediately upon receipt of item. This does not include normal wear and tear, slight variances in snap placement, odour issues, pilling, leaks, staining, repelling and holes or tears in the fabric or loose stitching due to wash routine or regular use.

Mother ease offers a 6-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on our:
Diaper covers, Wizard Uno's, Big Kid Training Pants and Bedwetter Pants.

This covers product stitching, seams, holes discovered upon arrival, and irregular deformity. This does not cover staining, fading, slight variances in snap placement, leaks, pilling, holes or tears in fabric or loose stitching that develop due to wash routine or regular use (items caught, torn or melted in the washer/dryer).

This warranty is available only to the original purchaser from the date of purchase.

All warranty is null and void when products containing harsh solvents such as hydrogen peroxide (oxygen bleach), sodium percarbonate or optical brighteners are used.

When washing your covers Motherease recommend you wash them in a mesh bag to keep them away from Velcro on your nappies and from getting caught in washing machine doors.  Always secure the Velcro on your wraps so they don't stick to the binding in the wash.
Please contact us if you think you have a faulty product and need to claim under the Motherease warranty. We will liaise with Motherease for you. Motherease will require any product to be returned or destroyed before a replacement.

The manufacturer may ask for proof of which detergent you have been using during the period you've had the item so we strongly recommend you keep your receipts you can prove you've been washing following the supplier's guidelines.  A photo of the detergent box and a photo of the detergent ingredients will be needed plus receipts of detergent purchases in the time you have owned the faulty nappies (usually 1 or 2 receipts showing purchases across the previous 6 months).  If you have bought Motherease's detergent through us during the time you've used the nappies please let us know and we'll have all your receipts already on record for you.

Mother-ease decision on any warranty claim is final.

Like magic when it comes to no more leaks
Rating:
01 December 2023  |

I've used cloth nappies on all 3 children and only now with my 5 month old have I discovered these amazing wraps. Absolutely no leaks. I've been tempted by them for a while as the reviews are really good but the price made me think twice. I'm happy to say that after taking the plunge and buying two, I have a heavy wetter who does not leak into her pyjamas or bed sheets. I'm so happy with them. They're easy to fit and they squash down under clothes and still don't leak. Amazing wraps. Buy them! You won't regret it.

I held off buying these despite recommendations as I just felt they were too expensive.

Had leaks with pretty much every other nappy we tried, even gave up on reusables for a couple of months, but eventually decided to give them one last go with this wrap. My 13 month old son is a heavy wetter.

Even when the bamboozle + booster is soaking after an entire night, this wrap keeps it all in.

I will admit that when it arrives you wonder what you've paid for as it feels so flimsy. But honestly, if I'd bought these to start with I would have saved myself a lot of time and money and wouldn't have given up on reusuables for a couple of months along the way.

Give them a go!!!! I always wash mine in a small laundry bag as advised to prevent snags from rogue velcro. They dry within a couple of hours.

These are great leak free outers and ours has stayed waterproof far bettter than the bambinex wraps but it is more fiddly. In the end we've settled on tots bots bamboozles wraps as our go to and as a result our airflow has been relegated to the change bag for emergencies.

As we've transitioned to potty training however this is great over training pants for travelling, they keep accidents well contained and can be rinsed and dried very quickly when out and about

I was getting constant leaks and was ready to give up on reusable nappies till I tried the mother ease wraps, now no more leaks! I used a disposable nappy the other day as I was away and ran out of reusable ones, got a poo leak.
Will not go back, mother ease wraps are the best

Should have made the switch from disposables to cloth nappies sooner. The two part system with the Mother-ease Airflow Nappy Wrap contains everything over-night, which is 12 hours for my 16 month old. No more wetting the bed. I was recommended a size smaller for my daughter, but a friend let me try two sizes she has for her toddler. The bigger size definitely fits better.

My favourite wraps
Rating:
21 February 2023  |

I love these wraps. There's no velcro to get stuck to anything, and the shape means it easily covers my wonky-folded flats or extra-chunky night nappies. I have two that are on their second child - the binding has almost totally worn off but it hasn't affected use at all and they are still my most leak-proof wraps. I recently bought an extra two and the fabric seems to be lighter weight now? They are still brilliant but I wonder if they'll be quite as durable.

Fantastic nappy wraps following great advice from TNL
Rating:
10 February 2023  |

I’m thrilled with the airflow wraps! I use them with Motherease Sandy’s nappies that I bought on the recommendation of the nappy lady’s fantastic advice service. I haven’t had a single leak since using this combination and they’re not too bulky on my fairly small 2 month old. The elastic on the wraps is really gentle against her skin. So much better than disposable nappies which would leak at least a few times a week. The wraps are really lightweight and really easy to fit. I like the durability of the poppers which means there’s no Velcro to snag on things in the wash. They are also washable at 70C so don’t require a separate washing load from the nappies. So happy with this purchase and Nappy Lady advice which has made using cloth nappies so easy.

Excellent over disposable nappies
Rating:
21 December 2022  |

I am trying to use these wraps over muslin flats but have also discovered how good they are at containing both poo explosions and massive pee nappies over night over disposable nappies. We are co-sleeping in the same bed and my baby was wetting our sheets regularly when his nappy overflowed , sometimes in just an hour. Adding these wraps did the trick. Saving us on washing both linens and poopy clothing. And havent caused nappy rash. 3 wraps seems to be enough. I'll definitely be ordering more Inthe next size as my baby grows.

I brought a larger size now she is potty trained but still wears a nappy at night. I have her in disposable at night but they all peak, bit with these on top the sheets and her stay nice and dry. Great buy.

Good wrap over bamboozle stretch
Rating:
03 August 2022  |

I use this over the bamboozle stretch fitted nappies for nighttime and have had great results even when baby sleeps for 6-7hours! The wrap is adjustable but not super tight so kind on baby's skin. Not sure these wraps are worth the higher costs as we've had similarly good results with cheaper wraps like the totsbots bamboozle wrap and pop in wraps. Love the design of the sunshine one!

I brought two of these to got over our tots bots bamboozle night nappy with a hemp booster as our little boy is a super wetter !! The peanut wraps were just not big enought and leaking (from wicking) all over the place- these have been a game changer! I can confidently leave the nappy on all night- no wakings due to being cold and wet!! They seemed to have lived up to the hype, and Iím very glad they did

Rating:
02 July 2022  |

We use this as a night time cover when not using wool. My son seems to be quite prone to marks from elastic even after adding lots of absorbancy. These are great as they are so loose fitting we've never had a problem, and no leaks! The sizing is quite small, my small 14 month old is in an extra large (with room to grow), so you probably need to size up for larger babies.

27 May 2022  |

I am writing this review as a nappy lady ambassador. I have been using airflow wraps on my newborn and these have been brilliant, they contain poos well and so far no leaks. The only thing to consider is the binding needs to be washed in a mesh bag rather than in a general wash particularly if there are velcro based nappies.

24 April 2022  |

I've known about airflows for years but never thought they could live up to the hype. They do. It's slightly annoying that they aren't btp but that's part of how they work i guess. One wrap will do as many nappies as we have between monster size poos so far fewer are needed (compared to totsbots which I would have to change at every nappy). I'm using them with superpee terry nappies.

The nappy lady service is wonderful. I used the questionnaire service as my old system wasn't working with my new baby, and the level of personalised detail was remarkable. And all for free. Thank you!!

We purchased two of these as our daughter is increasingly a heavy wetter during the night. These nappy covers are excellent - our baby has very chunky legs and these have sometimes stretched other covers which results in leaks but we have had no such issues with this brand. The designs are lovely and, so far, they have worked very well for us.

The BEST wrap you can buy
Rating:
26 February 2022  |

These are the absolute best bomb proof wraps you can get! Iíve used them for 16 months now in various sizes and I cannot fault them. Iíve tried lots of other wraps but non compares. Ultimate leak proof protection and fab over any nappy night or day. The bloomer style means we never get sock marks and look doesnít bother us as you can see really tell theyíre baggy under clothes (and my boy wears leggings). We have moved to mainly fitteds through the day and these will always be mine and my husbands first choice of wrap. The only thing I would say is to size up for a big bulky night nappy but I think thatís a given with most sized wraps. If youíve been struggling with leaks from other wraps, I highly recommend giving these a go

I have a good memory of PVC nappy wraps and it made sense that they had to be like a plastic bag to keep the wetness in. I know modern fabrics can be breathable and waterproof but I was still a little sceptical when first fastening up the lighter, much quieter and more stylish Mother-ease airflow wrap. It just so happened that night was a super soaker but this was only apparent when taking the wrap off as it had performed perfectly! The go-to in a two part system and will be back for the next size when needed.

I was a bit apprehensive about using this, but after years of many leaks with other wraps we decided to take the plunge when we needed reliable wraps for our heavy wetter. These have been a god sent. I feel so happy that we have finally mastered cloth nappies without leaks. We use these with the motherease one size fitted nappies and they work a treat. We wash them in a mesh bag along with our other nappies and decided not to worry about voiding the warranty and just make it as easy as possible. I would recommend sizing up though. We have just ordered the size XL for our (very) chunky 4 month old, he's been in the L since he was just 2 months. I am sure this is not the case for everyone, but if you're doubting between two sizes, perhaps choose the biggest of the two?

Bombproof

15 November 2021  |

We used these wraps in small size mostly over XS Sandys, and the two together were bombproof even for huge breastfed poos. They also managed no problem over other nappies we used as part of a trial kit, even for sodden overnight nappies, the only time leaks ever occurred was if we hadn't been careful and tucked in the nappy underneath properly. They also dry super fast and are very easy to wipe clean so we only changed them once a day. Would highly recommend as a wrap for any two part nappy system. Brilliant service from the Nappy Lady too when we had some issues with discounts.

Great wrap, but strange sizing

These wraps are highly effective at preventing leaks, but seem to have slightly strange sizes. When our daughter was 9lb1 we made the decision to risk starting the reusable nappies despite the medium wraps being designed for 10lb+, because the nappies themselves were already suitable from smaller sizes. We found the waist elastic was too tight on the tightest popper settings, so have gone one looser. The leg poppers are on their tightest setting and are far too baggy, even now she's over 10lb. Despite this, we have only had one leak in 2 weeks now though.

Bomb proof

I got these on recommendation from The Nappy Lady after filling out the questionnaire for night nappies. They fit nicely over our Bamboozles with extra boosters and the prints are lovely. Most important of all, they are bomb proof - nappies could be saturated underneath and still no leaks!
