Muslins (Muslinz)

Muslinz 70cm ones are great value for general use or for nappies only in the first few weeks. Muslins have a surprising degree of absorbency and are also extremely slim line. That';s why we often recommend them in either the Jo fold or pad folded as a newborn nappy.

Muslinz muslins come in packs of 12 in either plain white or a variety of colours/mixed print packs.

Muslins are used so regularly as mop up cloths and burp cloths these days (for which they are excellent), people forget that they used to be known as "muslin nappies".

Muslinz 70cm ones are great value for general use or for nappies only in the first few weeks. Muslins have a surprising degree of absorbency and are also extremely slim line. That';s why we often recommend them in either the Jo fold or pad folded as a newborn nappy. You can even fasten them with Nappi Nippas, for better containment. View the video above to see the Jo fold.

Muslins also go well into pouched "pocket" wraps for a fast drying nappy. For an older child, of course, the lower absorbency means more frequent changing than some other nappies, but the speed of drying or the convenience of the pouched wrap for daycare etc may well be a determining factor.

If you layer two muslins together before folding in a traditional terry shape, you actually have absorbency comparable to most birth to toddler nappies, but are still quite compact. Again, both the drying speed and the cheapness of this option are attractive.

In recent years the general quality of muslins on the high street has really fallen in line with the astronomical rise in the price of cotton. Muslinz are a new brand which is lovely thickness and also at a very reasonable price, I am very pleased to have found these!

Great nappies for a newborn
Sunday, 29 July 2018  |

We are using these as nappies for our tiny newborn and love them. I was sceptical about how absorbent they would be but with a wrap they are spot on. Atm She doesnít go more than 3 hours without a feed and nappy change so jotbsure they would last much longer than that. This brand is better than others - washes far better and minimal shrinkage. We use with fleece liners. We had to cut the muslins in half for our prem tiny baby and use the jo fold but once we figured that out they arenít too bulky or fiddly. Definitely recommend. And great for general use once she fits into her one size shaped nappies.

I am using these as nappies on my newborn. The absorbency has been fine so far. I use a fleece liner so it is soft against my babies skin. Plan to use them to line the changing mat when my little one outgrows them. Struggling with the jelly rolls so have had one poo explosion but happens with the disposables as well.

Great all-purpose workhouse!

Bought 2 packs of these - it's great having loads. Use them for burp cloths, as nappies in wraps, wiping spills, as a light blanket for naps in the living room, for catching that deadly 'fresh air wee' during changes...

Very soft and cheerful patterns. Bought these to use as nappies for our little boy. Nice and absorbent enough for a newborn nappy. We bought two packs and easily had enough to wash every other day.

Great quality. Much better than the muslin cloths that I already own. Have been using as a newborn nappy but will buy some for general everyday use too soon. Fold easily and dry quickly.

I bought these to use as nappies instead of buying newborn size. We use the jo fold which looks big on our 7lb baby girl, but doesn't bother her and works really well. very good quality and quick drying.

I may have used too soon on new born but not absorbent at all when it came to newborn wee and poo. Had to change almost immediately as could not leave baby soaked for longer then few minutes let alone 2 hours

Soft and absorbent
Tuesday, 16 May 2017  |

I bought these to use as newborn nappies and as general mop up cloths with a newborn. They are very soft and absorbent, especially after a few washes. Personally I found them too big for our teeny little 6lb baby and wasn't able to get good containment round his little chicken legs, despite trying various folds, but that may also be due to operator error! They definitely absorbed wee well though. I would recommend having a stash of these as they are great for all sorts and we still use them for nappies when all others are in the wash.

Excellent value for money
Wednesday, 3 May 2017  |

Very good product, I used these with some motherease wraps and nappy nippa grip as a really low cost way of trailing reusable nappies and was really happy with them. They wash well, dry very quickly and if you decide that reusable nappies isn't your thing you can obviously still use them for sick. They really are much better quality than what you get in the supermarket and much better value for money considering there are 12 in a pack and they're larger than what you'd generally find in shops.

So pleased with these muslins. I'd bought other ones from a supermarket and they shrunk and went very scratchy. These are a lovely size, very soft and have stayed in excellent condition after multiple washes. Totally worth the money.

Does the job
Saturday, 6 August 2016  |

These absorb very readily and they wash well at 40įC. They also dry easily. One accidentally went in the dryer on too hot a setting and shrank, but seems to have recovered after a couple of washes. The only thing that initially annoyed me slightly is that they aren't perfectly square. I've got over it.

Have been using these for the past 4 months and the quality is still good after countless washes especially compared to some given to us from elsewhere which seem to have thinned out. These ones have remained strong. Originally bought them to use as nappies but found the folding too much of a hassle for our small baby. Great Muslins for every day use.

Sunday, 3 January 2016  |

I decided to use these Muslins as newborn nappies for my son. Started using them from Day 2 and can't fault them. I'm still amazed at how absorbent they are. These are really good quality muslins and you can really see the difference between them and the supermarket versions. They also wash really well. I use the tumble drier for them as I found they keep their shape better than if hung on a airer or the radiator and so are easier to fold.

Ok purchase
Tuesday, 28 July 2015  |

I bought these Muslims to use as prefold nappies for my new born. They are good quality, thick & breathable, & line dry fast after washing. I used them with the little lambs fleecy liners. I bought the bright yellow/green & dotty muslins. However when I washed them the fun bright colours stained my nappy wraps, which are now an off yellow in colour, despite me pre washing the Muslins at 60 before use. I feel they would make good nappies for newborns weighing in the region of 8lb + ,they were quite big & bulky for my LO as he was a small newborn at 6lb3. Used for nursing at moment but he is 6 weeks old and nearly 10lb now so will be reintroducing them again as nappies soon- just washing them separately from the other nappies from now on.

Wednesday, 25 February 2015  |

I got these to use as nappies and they worked beautifully. Just have to remember to change every 2-3 hours depenging on how much baby wees. However, they do get quite big when folded up so don't provide as tight a fit as though. In fact, they were bulkier than my bamboozle size 1, and needed a size S wrap.

These are quality muslin cloths!!! I got the yellow ones, which are beautifully uplifting and a very generous size. I did not plan to use them as nappies but I may try after seeing them and reading that they can be used as such. I also ordered one nappy nippa/ snappy/ nappy safety pin thingy together with the muslin clothes. To my surprise it was also yellow to match which I am convinced was not random selection of colour (as i know there are various ones) but it was very very thoughtful deed of the nappylady I am so happy with my purchase and the service and i recommend it 100%! You can basically stop your nappy supplies internet search here, you won't regret it.

Essential Buy
Thursday, 5 June 2014  |

I have two packs of the white muslinz (24 in total) and use them for everything - burp cloths, in the crib to save the sheet from sick-up, nappies.

Don't be put off by the nappy fold. The fold is really easy to learn from the nappylady video and you can adjust it to fit your baby by overlapping the triangles. Works great with nappi nippas.

Don't buy the high street muslins. They might have cute patterns, but they won't absorb anything and you'll be covered in sick-up. With 12 in a pack this is really great value.

Tuesday, 20 August 2013  |

I am from Canada, where we don't really use these, but they're super. They are big enough to swaddle a 7-pound newborn, and because of their weave dry pretty much instantly on the line. I only wish they came in yellow, for reasons all mums can understand . . .

Great muslin, unstable dye
Thursday, 11 April 2013  |

I love the muslin cloth and the idea of the colour range, but the green dye has been unstable. Everything that goes in the wash with them has turned green - even after many washes they are still leaching and ruining some clothes/sheets. I therefore recommend sticking to the white ones which are perfect.
