Nappi Nippas (Snappis)

Type:
Price:  £2.75

Brand:  Nappi Nippas

A Nappi Nippa is a plastic T-shaped grip used instead of pins on traditional Terries, some shaped nappies, muslins or even prefolds. It is not suitable for use with flannelette or with stretch terry nappies such as the Motherease range.

Nappi Nippas are a fabulous invention and fiendishly simple: just a plastic T shape with little claws at each of the three ends. Simply hook one claw into the terry fabric roughly over one thigh (while holding the nappy together with the other hand), stretch over to the other thigh and catch into the loops of the fabric there, then pull the last claw down to catch at the fabric between the legs. The resulting grip should be Y shaped if it has enough tension.

Nippas are much faster to use than pins, and provide a nicely balanced secure fastening, which gives the nappies they are used with a high degree of containment. You have total adjustability both up-down as well as left-right, it is hard to beat the fit that Nippas offer.

Colours may vary

How To Use Nappi Nippas

Hook claw into terry loops (not the main weave fabric underneath)
Stretch over to other side and attach opposite claw. Nappi nippa needs tension to maintain grip
Pull down centre claw and attach to fabric between the legs
Pull back gently on each ring to confirm fastening is secure

Great purchase

I purchased the pack of 3. It has great grip and very easy to use on muslin which I use as a nappy and have a wrap. I have one in the nappy bag, one extra and of course one on baby.
It very durable for something so flimsy looking.

So easy to use and everyone who sees them is really impressed, they're almost novel in their simple but effective design. They work equally well with muslins and terry towels and considering there are three in a pack they're worth so much more than they cost on this website!

I have not tried any other type of fastening for muslins but I don't feel the need. Very easy to use, safe - i cannot imagine using safety pins. My partner's mother was very impressed.

Doesn't hold on for long
Thursday, 25 June 2015  |

Maybe I am using these on difficult fabric (velcro nappies whose velcro is a bit tired) but they don't hold on for long with an active toddler. At least they are safer than a pin when they do come undone, and they are easy to use... but not effective for keeping the nappy closed, unfortunately.

I love using muslins as nappies for my newborn, especially as the nappies I bought are pretty bulky on her! The Snappis are so simple to use. Worth getting the three pack instead of just one, because my cat likes to run off and hide them.

Getting blunt quickly
Monday, 17 November 2014  |

I have to agree with previous reviewer. Our nappi nippas seem to blunt really quickly now. I have followed advice and tumbled dried our bamboo terry squares but it seems the nappi nippas work fantastically well for the first couple of weeks and then it becomes really difficult for them to catch and stay attached - nappies popping open all the time (we have twins so driving us mad!)

I have to say I can't remember the type of nappy nippas I bought first time but they seemed a lot sharper than these ones which I sometimes struggle to get to attach first go to my terry square nappy. Now my 9 month old is a champion wriggler it isn't particularly helpful during mission impossible nappy changes. The first ones I bought (3 pack) lasted me about 8 months but I felt they were better value as they attached really well. I'm actually considering resorting to pins.

Response:

There is only one sort of nappi nippas, we stock the genuine ones and have sold the same ones for over 10 years. Often over time if you're finding they aren't catching as well it's due to the nappy fabric lying flatter or in the case of bamboo the loops wearing. Fluffing up the nappy in a tumble drier usually helps. Wendy

Can't imagine using anything else
Thursday, 21 August 2014  |

Nappi Nippas are so easy and convenient that I can nappy the little one one-handed in the dark. I'm not from the pin-using generation, but those who are always say they wished they'd had these years ago. A real incentive to keep diapering w/muslins.

What can you really say about a nappy clip? Do their job excellently and are a much better alternative to pins! I remember when I had my first baby 5 years ago these were only £2.49 a pack though - hence 4 and not 5 stars.

Love these!

I've used these with prefolds, Easy Peasy Bumbles and at one point a Mother ease one size (broken popper) and love the adjustability they offer.

At first they look a bit daunting but once you get the hang of it they are super quick and efficient.

They offer great grip and have never come undone despite much pulling from a determined 1 year old so I'd definitely recommend.

Great fastening tool!
Wednesday, 18 June 2014  |

I was a bit apprehensive when the Bumble nappy was recommended with a nippa fastening but thought we'd give it a go. Really surprised at how easy the nippa is to use! I really like it as a fastener as it means complete control over the sizing and fit of the nappy, which is very helpful for us. Stays in place all night despite lots of wriggling!

Great fasteners.
Thursday, 20 February 2014  |

I remember pins from my childhood, great big pins on thickly folded cloth. Perhaps this is why I avoided terries for so long. However, I decided to have a little experiment and decided to give these a go after watching the videos on this website. They are brilliant! Easy to use and secure. I now use a few terries around the home fastened with these.

Very Clever Product
Tuesday, 1 October 2013  |

These are fab. I was sceptical before I used one as I didn't think it would stay in place but got given one with some second hand nappies and was very surprised. I have bought another as a spare and two are now enough - when I do a nappy wash I clean the one not in use is some soapy water then throw it in the cold water steriliser for 15 mins (but not with bottles, i sterilise them separately in fresh set of soloution). Beware if you have toddlers around though. They probably aren't sharp enough to beak skin but they are quite pointy - as my six year old discovered when fiddling around with one!

Wednesday, 29 May 2013  |

These nappy nippas are of a lower quality than previous versions of the same (about 2 years ago). Two of three have broken as a result of being accidentally included in the wash...never a problem in the past. You can tell that they are not as strong. Otherwise fine.

So easy to use

These are such a good idea. I use them on my son's terry nappies and really don't think I could be without them! They make changes very quick and easy. I dread to think how many injuries there would have been (probably to myself!) if I used the traditional 'safety' pins.
My only criticism is that these have a fairly short lifespan when using regularly - the tabs do break after a few months of constant use. But at this price for a pack of 3, I really don't mind going through a couple of packs per year!

As I have four under 5s I need nappy changing to be quick so my eyes aren't off the wee ones too long. These are a clever invention and are quick and easy to use! I use them for the night time Bumbles for my baby (and as a spare in the day for my two year old!). I've just bought more as they have been known to go walkabout!!!! Much easier and safer than using nappy pins too.
